Never asked. I think he was when you and I went.
Indeed, we shmoozed with him for a minute. One of the best meals of my life.
Went back with my wife and it was so mediocre. Asked for Josh, but was told it was his night off.

How can a restaurant live and die by 1 employee? Is he the owner? Why isn't his knowledge transferable?

Owner and head chef.
Sounds like a great chef, but not such a great owner...

Owner and head chef.
It's crazy to have that much of a drop off when he's not there.
Alenbi is unfortunately not the same since Chef Elior left but he left for good not a day off, and it's still a very good restaurant just not what was IMO the best kosher restaurant.

I've been 3x, and all means have been As, at a min.
I’ve been there many times. Always incredibly good. Last couple times without josh there.

Cool, hopefully he's gotten that situation under control then.
I haven't been there since summer 2019.

When were you there?

2 times pre covid and once in the past summer. That one was very mediocre.

Can I redeem Matmid points?
I think a couples' meal cost more than tickets to Europe

Interesting. I didn't know filet mignon was kosher.

Interesting. I didn't know filet mignon was kosher.
In the US it's a fake filet mostly. There are one or two sfardic shchitas that do it. In Israel real filet is widely available, under rabanut and sfardic badatz hechsherim. While it is very good, I'd take a ribeye any day, especially over the fake american filet.
The chiddush of DDF is the way Dan Deals with all us crazies 🤪

These prices look pretty standard for a higher end kosher restaurant. Especially one located in NYC.

I haven't been to a Manhattan restaurant since late 2019, so I guess I must have forgotten

haven't been in a couple months but every time I've been they had amazing food and great service.
Personally I liked the lamb riblets and beef carpaccio
Yet to have a bad steak from their menu
They have a couple great cocktails as well but don't remember the names
