So, finally got to Tabernacle.

Did not find the service overbearing. Totally had the space. Wasn't packed.

Service was fine, although there were a few things to nitpick. I was offered and asked for more bread at some point, but it never came. I had to remind the server after getting the main, that they skipped something I asked for on the menu that went along on it.

Ambience is very nice.

Drinks were good.

Beef tartare good. 7.5/10
Lamb rilettes good 8/10
Salad very good and unique flavor profile 9/10.

Filet mignon very good. 9/10
Surprise steak terrible 1/10. Toughest unchewable piece of meat I was ever served in a restaurant. I gave them this constructive feedback, but not as harsh.

Dessert.
Fondue. Great execution and overall. 10/10.
Donuts. Good. 6/10.

In summary, will probably eventually go back iyh, but think that Barnea and Reserve Cut are at a higher tier for the same price or slightly cheaper. They still need to iron out some things.

Wanted to add one more thing. For the price that the main courses are, you get a small piece of meat.

Also, there is no tipping choice. 18% is added on your bill whether you feel its deserved or not.

I still can't wrap my head around this whole salad thing. How good can a salad be?!

No hype. It's just very good. Unique flavor and texture profile. No. It's not going to amaze and wow you. Just good and worth getting.

From someone that's traveled long down the salad road - it can be as incredible as a steak. And I love steak. The marriage of textures and flavors possible in a salad is a blank page for the most satisfying and taste bud awakening sensations. Fresh produce and quality ingredients are more important in salad than in other kinds of food, especially cooked. If there's interest I can open a salad thread.

Just adding as I remember.
Fries. 3.5/10. Nothing to write home about. I commented that they tasted like fast food fries.

An experience this bad in a restaurant of this caliber is unforgivable IMHO, enough to potentially put a damper on an otherwise amazing experience.

Also, there is no tipping choice. 18% is added on your bill whether you feel its deserved or not.

This practice is becoming more and more common, it upset me the most to see it on takeout during COVID, I guess restaurants were desperate.

I usually tip more at a places that don’t do this when I feel it’s earned, but when they do it this way then I feel like they set the bar for tip/gratuity and I won’t add even if the service was good.

It's amazing seeing the reviews on Google lots of 5 stars and 1 star. Nothing in between. I'm inclined to think it might be hit or miss.

Bear in mind that users with extreme experiences are more likely to review, and/or there might be a tendency (potentially correlated to people who visit high-ticket establishments, or anyone's expectation when visiting a high-ticket establishment) to leave a polarized 1 or 5 star review rather than viewing their experience as somewhere in the middle.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, hit or miss is unacceptable (to me) at such prices.

You can see from your own review, if you just got the filet, it would be a 5, if you just got the surprise, it would be a 1.
I loved the filet and ribeye, didn't care for the hanger.

Going to be in Manhattan next week for our anniversary. What would you guys recommend as the best option for a nice fleishig restaurant? Also a milchig restaurant which serves fresh/healthier type options for lunch. Anywhere in Manhattan is fine.

Nice has so many meanings...
What's your budget? Do you prioritize food, service, or ambiance?

For dairy, Noi Due and Abaita are probably the top 2 kosher dairy restaurants in the Western Hemisphere.
