If you are looking for something different, Talia's is serving authentic Nepalese food today through Friday.

Menu is pretty out there - https://www.toasttab.com/talias-steakhouse-668-amsterdam-avenue/v3/#d4f073fc1-0a79-4ee9-adc3-51d06705eecbdb6998da0-d915-495c-b570-4bb7e75fe893

Had some last week, it was interesting.

They’ve done a bunch of pop-ups recently and this was the one I enjoyed best. If you’re going for ethnic food, you might enjoy it. If you’re expecting a culinary delight you might be disappointed. They switched up the Nepalese menu from what was offered last week, the chicken momo is still there, I enjoyed it a lot. The date cake dessert was weird, my wife enjoyed it a lot. It had the texture of one of those healthy date bars you buy in a package.

was there a few months back. don't remember details much. Enjoyed in general as we were looking for somewhere quiet and large spaces between tables. Think prices were low for Manhattan standards, was definitely in general not high end like barnea etc..

I actually went there tonight.
Food and ambiance was good and pricing is pretty decent for NYC, although portions weren’t too large.

Any restaurants that are an experience? Tabernacle sounds like it's hit or miss. Not interested in going for a miss.

I recommend Mocha Red or Sen Sakana for experience & Wall Street Grill for food. Haven't been to RC in a while. I don't go to Barnea since it's just too loud to enjoy anything.

Tabernacle is certainly an experience. I think it's a hit more often than not.

More often than not is too much of a gamble for someone who feels like they’re splurging for Tabernacle’s price on a special occasion.

True, however the experience is heads and shoulders above everything else when they're on their A game.

I'm surprised to have to say this, but I think I disagree with almost everything in here.

1) Mocha Red, by many accounts is just no good.
2) Sen Sakana is pretty good (esp MISO ribs), tho the non-sushi (to be contrasted with nagiri) is just OK.
3) aside from the rooftop, we didn't enjoy Wall Street much at all
4) Tabernacle, if your order correctly, is top 3 restaurants in NYC.
5) Barnea is number 1

Though I also haven't been to RC in a while, so I guess I agree with you there :)

Rothchild TLV?

Consistently underwhelming IMHO.
I think it was 9 years ago when we had lunch there with AJK. Was pretty good!

Lamb Rilette or something similar is excellent. Loved their salmon too, but it can only get that good.

Caesar Salad is incredible. Also great were the lamb rillete; the tuna tartate was phenomenal (but they took it off menu last I was there); filet mignon; the fries. That's a decent start from my memory.

Tiberias if you want a fancy place or Jerusalem cafe if not. Also Patis might do the trick
