I never had Anita's but Ive been going pretty much every day since the first time I went, they have new flavors every day. Everything is pretty much a solid 8 and above whatever I tried. The cones are unbeleivable as well. So Im pretty happy with them.

I remember reading an article comparing the economics of le marais to a non-kosher equivalent. The main difference was being open on friday night and saturday, not the cost of supplies

Supply costs are only one factor, same for Shabbos, and there is a whole host of others

Mikes' Bistro has an excellent Bison Carpaccio app.
Prices are stratospheric though.

So the guy that 1st introduced me to Anita went to try out Noi du Gelato yesterday and I got a way lower score than my DW gave... (the flavors and textures are not even close to the OG)  I guess Anita "was" that good.
For the people that only eat CY its irrelevant because the best u've had is only the best u've tasted, but for the rest Ainta will deff be missed. im still curious y they lost the certification in the 1st place

No, but why the assumption that C"Y people have never tried excellent gelato?

@Dan I think you should start a separate Manhattan Gelato thread or risk a debate about whether a Gelato store should be considered a "restaurant". Kind of reminds me of the famous Seinfeld about whether a Mendy's soup and a half sandwich is considered a meal.

My takeaway is that I'm happy not to be such a baki. I just enjoy what I enjoy and don't really need to search for better

Ended up missing out on UN Plaza Restaurant week this past winter so I made sure to make it work this summer (not exact same menu, but pretty similar overall). I would say food was maybe a 7 or 7.5, overall value was perhaps higher for just $60pp, but overall experience was like a 6. It was hot (AC was intermittent at best). Service was fine initially (7pm reservation) but got ridiculously slow as the place filled up. The thing I hate most in any scenario (retail, entertainment, food, etc.) is being made to wait to pay. Like, everything else about our interaction is finished except for the part where I pay you, which should take a minute or two max. It took probably 15-20 minutes from the time I started trying to flag someone down to get the check until I got my card back and was able to walk out.

Grilled Steak Tacos: 8.5/10 - It's just 2 tacos, so it's not a lot of food, but overall it's a filling meal at a very good price, so I'm rating this on how good it was, not how much it was.
Fennel-Citrus Salad:  - Not gonna bother rating, since my wife chose it and I'd never get it otherwise. She enjoyed it, and I thought it was fine, but again, not something I'd ever order. After seeing it going out to other tables, we probably should've gotten the tandoori chicken wings as the 2nd app.
Center Cut Rib Eye: 7/10 - Probably wasn't the choicest piece of meat, but it was still very tasty and a really good deal as the centerpiece of a $60 dinner. Dinged it a bit because the fries it comes with were overdone.
Chicken Scallopini: 8/10 - Really good flavor and paired well with the mashed potatoes and green beans.
Tiramisu: 7.5/10 - Was offered instead of the apple tart. Closer to a normal size (certainly well within what you'd expect from a prix fixe menu), nothing crazy, but a good version of a familiar dessert.
Molten Chocolate Cake: 1/10 - Just embarrassing. Aside from them taking forever to bring out desserts when they clearly weren't prepared fresh or anything, this had to be the worst version of this dessert I've ever had. It was tiny, dry, and the ice cream was freezer burned.

Dont forget they are doing u the favor by being open charging skyrocket prices serving for mediocre food with a side of bad service ;D ;D

Ironic how they don't have a in house pastry chef making ALL deserts fresh daily.
