The thing I hate most is being made to wait to pay. Like, everything else about our interaction is finished except for the part where I pay you, which should take a minute or two max.

Like, everything else about our interaction is finished except for the part where I pay you, which should take a minute or two max. It took probably 15-20 minutes from the time I started trying to flag someone down to get the check until I got my card back and was able to walk out.

I often get up and pay on the way out or leave cash. In Israel restaurants that use Tabit print a QR code on the check where you can pay online.

I often get up and pay...
I've done this when I can see where they have the register if it's manned, but never in a higher end place. Maybe I should start.

IIRC some places had it during covid, its a great system, i would think maybe they dont wanna do it because people wont leave tips or smaller amounts ???

:)  that’s also a tidbit that bears on analysis (if u aren’t watching the kitchen yourself).
My point was the poster said it seemed consensus was it wasnt kosher enough, and to get more particular a rabbi who was in r zilbersteins kollel and generally a wise man said it was ok. Of course he could now be a murderer from your perspective, but it’s just a data point. Ask your rov and see what he says.
