Barnea and Tabernacle are excellent, from apps through desserts.

Rothschild TLV had the most impressive parve desserts I've had in Manhattan, possibly in any fleishig restaurant.

Wasn't a huge fan of their mains fwiw.

Any reviews of NOME? Owned my mocha group, in mocha red location iinm
Very disappointed.

Food: 7/10
Service: 2/10
Ambiance: 4/10

They no longer have a DJ, so instead they had loud music constantly playing on the loudspeaker. The service was really bad. (Ie, we got soup, but they didn't give us spoons, needed to wait until a busboy was passing to get as the servers were constantly talking amongst themselves at the bar. Same with the steaks, no steak knives until we requested).
Additionally, i wasnt a fan of the included 20% tip and then when they charge you at the table they for you to select "additional tip".

Needless to say, I dont intend on going back. Real shame as I enjoyed Mocha Red. That was a consistent fun night out

@jj1000 and I had a fun meal at Reserve Cut.

I've never been a big fan, but we needed somewhere that was open at 3pm.

Let's just say the meal ended with them threatening to call the cops.  :o :o

Man oh man.

I was wondering why insta showed u guys going there then no pics!! cmon u gotta tell us what happened!!

JJ was scared off of sharing negative IG stories after our G7 fiasco.

But I short...

Waitress saw JJs Indians hat and said Cleveland is so f***ing boring.

I mean, I expected that kind of language in Yankee Stadium, not from my waitress in a high-end restaurant. But we laughed it off and didn't make a big deal of it.

Never got our drinks, which the waitress says was her bad because they were having computer issues. OK.

Most of the food was very good, but there were too many dishes that were not great.

I don't skip many desserts, but this menu is impressively uninspired, so we asked for the check.

The manager comes over and says their computers are down, so they're taking everyone's credit cards and IDs, making a copy of them, and will charge them when up again.

I shrug and am pulling them out, but JJ lawyers up and says we're not giving our IDs to be photocopied and saved along with the stack he's carrying around.

He turns to me and says OK, just give me yours, and I say I defer to my lawyer and hand over just my credit card.

JJ argued with him that an ID isn't required for a credit card transaction, and keeping a copy of an ID certainly isn't required. The manager said that any time a card not present swipe is done that an ID copy is required. JJ asked him when the last time he shopped online or over the phone was? That left him flabbergasted and he walked away with my credit card.

I went to the bathroom and the manager was waiting outside of it for me, saying we can't leave until I give my ID to be photocopied. I said that's not going to happen, and he said then we will need to keep something valuable that you will only be able to reclaim when payment is made.

Uh, this sounds like a you problem, not a me problem. And we're going to leave now.

No, we must copy your ID or we will get the police involved.

OK, do what you want to do, but you can keep my credit card and we are leaving.

On our way out, the manager's manager says all he needs is to see my ID and make sure the name matches. See it? No problem, here it is, it matches the credit card. Have a great day.

The original manager lies and tells his manager that he only asked to see it, not to copy it. Literally as he's still holding copies of other diner's IDs.

The manager asks us to sign the bill. He asks me to sign and then circle one of the 20-25% tip amounts and for the first time in my life, I said I'm not tipping a dime.

The manager's manager all but says that his underling is an idiot and we're free to go.

JJ did get some of this on video, though I haven't watched it yet. But our blood was boiling.

Fun times. Spend $360 on a late lunch for 2 and don't need to go back there again.

Next time Bonito 47 and the meat omakase.

One thing I don't get about these businesses. You can get a handheld cc machine with internet for about $25 a month. The meshulech type.
Any normal business should have it as backup. I have 4 of them. There's been a handful of times we needed them but bh never needed to harass customers.

Next time you're looking for lunch - there's 2 new openings in lower-ish manhattan: Falafel Tanami and Pita Bar.

Highly recommend both, and it's exciting since those areas haven't had much kosher food previously
Jury Duty: Nothing to do there but chill and write a TR. Kinda like the beach but missing the view and ocean breeze.
