+1 on abigaels - consistently good food and service. Beats Le Marais on food imo, although I like the atmosphere at Le Marais better

Le Marais has a very festive and lively atmosphere which makes the food taste better lol. Abigaels is more formal but has very good food

What can I say, I did not have a good Abigael's experience.
I understand it's not fair to judge a place on one experience, but that's life.

Besides for Abigael's 80s decor and atmosphere in the first dining room downstairs where they sat us and the service during lunch being unbelievably slow and our waiter not knowing anything about menu items...

They served a BBQ Brisket Eggroll appetizer that was still frozen in the middle and I was completely underwhelmed by the Burger, though by the time it came some 90(!) minutes after ordering it was cold.

I will say that the Prime Rib sandwich was very good though but not good enough to make me return.

Sure it could all be a one-off, but the thing about Le Marais is that they are so darn consistent.
Their pepper steak with fries or mashed potatoes is guaranteed to be great as is the hot chocolate cake dessert.

Noi due was awesome, easily one of the best dairy restaurants I've ever been to.
I scared the Israeli owner though as he got suspicious of my picture taking.
Shame they won't take reservations, not sure what's that about.

It's definitely superior to Va Bane.

Wow sorry to hear that, I've never been there for lunch - they may not do lunch properly. I've been there many times for dinner and never been disappointed!

Didn't as I went when they opened at 11.
Fried macaroni balls are out of this world, eggplant parm and tri-color gnocchi were great, mocchachino frozen chocolate coffee drink was perfect as well.

I thought it was much higher quality and bigger portions than Va Bane.

Basil is the same with the no reservations. But definitely a different level of dairy
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

The forum is right. Le Marais is consistently excellent. I like the prime rib for one, medium with double fries.

Its all subjective. Proclaiming that doesnt mean anything. There are enough pro Le Marais posts here as it is  :P. I like it, just like Abigaels a little more.

Shame they won't take reservations, not sure what's that about.

If you see it on Saturday nights (and other busy times), you will understand. They have a backlog of people waiting to get in. Most of those people wouldnt show if there were reservations and they were told about the wait.

Wouldn't they be told a time to come when there would be no wait, whereas after waiting they won't come again knowing they have to wait?

Wouldn't they be told a time to come when there would be no wait, whereas after waiting they won't come again knowing they have to wait?

That system works if they work exclusively on reservations. Pardes does that and even there sometimes you have to wait a while.
