Gotta love it how the Kosher Restaurants have "Reviews" posted prior to opening

http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/la-brochette-new-york?filter_by_userid=True&select=gLUCBzKcgnM2WLvkQALPlA&userid=0qMGyoRAauPcWWx4J24Log#gLUCBzKcgnM2WLvkQALPlA

Most of these places have private events before they open to the public (benefit of the doubt).

Which is why I never trust TripAdvisor.

There have been stories of hotels that offered discounts to guests at check-out for writing a nice review
so who do you trust?

yeah, but i find thats more helpful when you already have a hotel youre thinking about and you want to see reviews, not as helpful when youre starting out looking for one

Any restaurant/recommendations for our Pakistani relatives around midtown?

How about shalom Bombay or Colbeh? Never been to either.

Then again, than again, how about a good pastrami sandwich from Mendys. Eat like a New Yorker.

Last night my wife and I went to Prime at the Bentley for her birthday. When we got there at 7, there were only a few people eating outside. We were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside, we chose to sit outside. The weather was perfect, not too hot with a little breeze and the view of Manhattan and the Queensboro Bridge was pretty nice.

I'm not sure when all the people on DDF, who said the service was terrible, went, but the service for us was not a problem at all. The bread and water was brought within a minute of us sitting down and the waiter was very knowledgable and attentive.

We shared the veal slider appeteizer ($20), which was a special and not on the menu, and came with 3 very juicy delicous sliders. For our mains, my wife got the Lamb Burger ($27) which came with a side of fries. It was a 12 oz. burger which was a nice size portion and luckily for me she wasn't able to finish the whole thing  ;D. I got the rack of ribs ($36) which also came with a side of fries. The ribs came as a rack of 5 bones, with a nice amount of meat on them. They were very soft and tender, but a little bit on the dry side. I like my meat more rare, but this was by no means terrible and I'm sure some people prefer them this way. See pictures below of burger and ribs.

Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely go back for another special occasion.

This is the one thats replacing La Carne?
I passed by yesterday and asked about a Lunch Menu. I was hoping they had a Wolf & Lamb type of offering but they do not. The place itself looks great; really nice inside. I will update with review since I am hoping to go for dinner this week.

Meh. Wolf n Lamb is a nice place but not as good as PG. Mike's is extremely overrated, loud noisy and sub par food. Le Marais is always loud and dark, I can  never see what I am eating. If you want something nice a bit cheaper than PG, try Abigael's . Prob the best place in the city IMO is Tevere 84. Great ambiance and food that is tasty and different.
whats good at Tevere?

Not the steak. Ask about their "Osso Buco" not sure if its always on the menu. IMHO Tevere is overrated. I guess if one is looking for something semi unique and different its not a bad option.

I was thinking about going there for my Anniversary. While the food in these pics look good, the plating looks 'empty'. I'm not saying people always eat the lettuce thats placed on the plate beneath your food, but it does give the impression of a fuller plate as well as a not having that bare plate look.

any one else agree/disagree?

Yes presentation was not very good, but plates were pretty big. I would not say the portions here were small.

We're big fans! We eat in and order out from them very often (especially when my wife's pregnant:) ) They almost always throw in free stuff, like appetizers, maybe a glass of wine, desert, etc.

Pretty exciting new for those who work in Downtown Manhattan:

http://yeahthatskosher.com/2013/08/reserve-cut-new-kosher-steakhouse-to-open-near-wall-street/
My wife and I know the person who is opening this restaurant and we are going to the opening. From what he is telling me the food will be very good, but I will decide for myself.
