just came back from reserve cut, the place was packed we had to wait 45 min for a table even though we had a rez.
its a beautiful restaurant & the food is delicious but it took a ling time to bring out the mains.
Its also quite pricey, our bill for 3 people was $700 including tip (which is suggested to you) thank g-d i had a sponsor ;)

Three people or three couples?
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

you must've ordered a ton of food. It's shouldn't be over 200 a head, that's a lot.

I've been to Reserve Cut a few times.

Generally the bill ended up being around $120 a person for an appetizer, main w side, soda and 1 alcoholic bev and dessert (not including gratuity)

Overall its my favorite in NYC at the moment though I wouldn't mind an expanded menu

Hope they open up for lunch soon!

When you go there you should go with the head that it will be an expensive bill. The food is top notch and the ambiance is amazing so it is well worth it for a nice night out.

from great kosher restaurants:

SAD BREAKING NEWS: The J in Soho, NY is closing their kosher doors after Thursday night.

After a much fanfare opening last summer promising something we haven't seen before and after a year of ups and downs filled with name changes, supervision changes, celebrity sightings, NY Post mentions, being named one of the top restaurants in NY, the J Soho (formerly named Jezebel) will close this week after service Thursday night and will eventually re-open as a non-kosher restaurant. Many will speculate on the reasons for the closing (a tough location being one of them) and maintaining a successful kosher restaurant is hard enough but our opinion is that it first started with the uphill battle and getting out of the shadow of the initial name and bad press. The food was quite good in the times we went and they got rave reviews from critics and customers alike but this ending might have been unavoidable.

They promise to go out with style and a bang, so you have 3 days left to go if you haven't been there before or to go back to reminisce. We thank Henry Stimler and Menachem Senderowicz for their gallant effort in opening this kind of restaurant and we wish them well in their future projects. They were trying to push the envelope, but in this case, they just may have been pushed a little too far.
from gkrm:

WAIT, "THE J" IS NOT DEAD YET:
We have just learned from one of the owners of The J that they will indeed be open Saturday night and they have not made a final decision on next week. Maybe there is some hope. Stay tuned.

Interesting.  Weren't too many positive reviews that I saw.

I went back when it was Jezebel and was very happy with the food...

The crowd was definitely not typical for a Kosher restaurant but neither was the ambiance. I recommended it to anyone who asked and haven't heard any complaints yet...

Looking for a place to host a  Saturday night party of 40-50 people. Who has the space for that? I believe Abigael's does. Does Mike's? TPG? Anywhere else? Is reserve cut open on Saturday night? Do they have the space?

T-Fusion is a good party choice if it doesn't have to be in the city. They have a good prix fixe menu, and a good price to quality ratio.

Probably the 2nd best dish I've had at any restaurant after Asian's Roasted Beef.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
