Sure hope the ribs survive the move.
And I hope there's no temp closure. Just ask La Seine and Clubhouse :P
they already signed the lease on the new place so......

Personally I do not eat out often. But when I do go out I do not appreciate the automatic tipping or even the suggested tip part on the receipt. I usually tip based off the service I received from the waiter/waitress. any one else have opinions on tipping?

Specifically on the issue of mandatory tip for larger groups, I don't love it, but at least I understand it. It's less of a big deal if a table of 2 stiffs the waiter, but when it's a big group (which often takes a disproportionate amount of the wait staff's time up) it can be brutal.

A better suggestion though would be a much smaller mandatory tip for those situations, say 10%, and let people add on. If you make 15% or 20% mandatory/automatic, it's more likely they won't realize or bother to add to the tip for really good service.

because if you get good service you'd tip more than 20%  :o ::)
esp after they took 10% already!

The following is my review of La Brochette Restaurant.

I made a reservation for 9pm. We showed up at 8:45 and were promptly seated. The waiter brought us menus and bread. The waiter then began to explain different items on the menu to us. He was extremely knowledgeable on the different dishes that were available and was really helpful. We first ordered a sampler which came with some spring rolls and other finger food. It was awesome!! For our entrée, at the urging of our waiter, we ordered a prime rib for two. I must say the steak was from the best I have ever had. It came on a platter cut up and we were able to take piece by piece on our plates. The entrée also came with three side dishes. We got onion rings, French fries, and mashed potatoes.  The portions were quite large and before long we were full.

The décor of the restaurant was really nice. They have a violinist that plays along to music that plays throughout the restaurant. We really enjoyed that! Upstairs they have a private party room that can hold about 30 people. There was a party going on at the time but it was still quiet downstairs. They have a smaller meeting room for about 10 people downstairs too!

All in all, I must say this is one of the finest dining experiences I have had. The food was superb and the service was excellent!!

va bene
Thanks for the recommendation was very good, but not exceptional.
Quite expensive for the small portions.
There were 8 of us at the table and we were pretty cramped.
The salmon salad, pizza, and fettuccine Alfredo were delicious.
They didn't serve mixed drinks which was disappointing, but the waiter made me something which was very good (charged me $14 for it).

They had martinis and the like last time I was there
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

Expensive, yes but I don't remember the portions being small. I've personally never has exceptional milchigs but it is a nice quiet restaurant

Only take out

I don't think you can judge a restaurant based on a takeout order.

Been to Noi due?
I've been there, the problem with them is whenever I went (ie motzei shabbos) they are packed, like a 40 min wait and its a small place to begin with so ppl are literally standing near your table waiting. Foods good though. And no reservations :-[

We ate at the Reserve Cut on Tuesday night.

Ambiance:   10
Service:       6
Food:           8

We had the Crispy Rice, which is fried little rice patties with spicy tuna on top. Very good, small.
Wagyu ribs appetizer, very good.
Crispy Sweetbreads, ok.
Cote du Boeuf 20oz. Very good, took way too long to come.
Also had an interesting cocktail called Thai One On - Gin, Lime juice, muddled cucumber and thai basil. Excellent.

The place was probably the nicest looking restaurant in the city. Really enjoyed the decor and ambiance.

Price was high, because the portions are small, even compared to high end restaurants.

The executive chef is Hok Chin, who was the original chef in The Prime Grill and Solo, back when those restaurants were tops. IMO they went downhill since replacing the chef.

Definitely recommended if price is not an object.

I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.
