Noi due, has absolutely amazing waiters and service, simply phenomenal. The food all round is delicious, and has great presentation. All in all very impressed. Thanks to those who recommended it.
The cigarelo's were delicious. French onion soup served in a hollowed out sourdough roll was great! Ravioli in the basilico sauce was amazing!
The two tone chocolate mousse is really good in terms of the dessert. The tirmisu was good but nothing to write home about..
But the service all round was simply outstanding..

Pardes or Reserve Cut?

Must order dishes from either?

IME pardes has pretty limited menu but changes frequently. the chef is pretty strict and doesn't allow any customizations eg different sides or sauce. the wait can also be a little long, even with a reservation

Pardes. Definitely.

I don't know if there can be any must-order there, since the menu can change on a daily basis. But they usually have some version of a BLT- and that's supposed to be amazing. Why don't you ask the waiters what are the most popular choices- the must order as you call it.

Look out for a big, broad tall waiter (might be more than that, but I don't know...) with reddish/blondish hair- he's the best. Be interested in the food and the process and enjoy the experience...

The wait if any is worth it.

Most of the pardes items on the menu intimidate me. How do these things taste?

Ask about the "bacon" lamb mousse, served on a crostini (sometimes topped with coffee sauteed shallots... incredible)- we got them on the house last time we asked!

Pardes or Reserve Cut?

Reserve Cut really has about the same menu as prime grill, so not very exciting, though guaranteed quality and the place itself may be the nicest kosher restaurant i have ever been in.

Pardes has inventive (and wierd in my limited NY taste) food, so if you are in the mood to have some charred ox heart or other wild stuff (esp wierd fish dishes), then that is for you. Note that service i have had there (esp at lunch when that was happening) was terrible. Pardes intimidated me too with most of their stuff, but their basic prime rib (if they still have it) was really great, though not more amazing than top shelf Ny steakhouses. I had the fake bacon and was not impressed btw.

if you want a high class classic NY steakhouse experience, or just wanna check out the crazy nice venue, go to Reserve Cut. note that parking will be harder in downtown NY than in Brooklyn though. would park at the icon on william street with a discount if coming to RC ($19 after 4pm http://www.iconparkingsystems.com/neighborhood/financial-district-parking/). if no printer, highly suggest getting the Best Parking app.

IF RC for dinner, I would get the Porcini Mushroom soup (its cold out) and the Prime Reserve Cut. safe and good choices, and get crispy rice sushi if u want a light sushi app.

Amazing. Period. The balance of flavors is incredible. You taste each flavor separately- but they come together in a most amazing way.

Even though I enjoy trying and tasting new flavors- my friends with more traditional taste-buds wholly enjoyed it.

One thing, though- you just have to know if you like certain tastes- for example tartare (raw, lightly seared) meat. If you don't go for that- just skip those items.

In my opinion, meat is meat. Each cut may have different flavors and textures- but don't let the name throw you off.

I actually enjoyed that dish more than the others i had there, but a friend of mine got so sick he had to leave (and i had to handle check)! if you are quick to nausea or bad stomach, be careful what you order. I agree with others that many foodies love this stuff, but as a normal guy, some of the strange flavors were a bit too much for me.

Reserve Cut seems to be more about the venue than the food- judging from reviews and even their website. Only 2 of the 7 photos in the gallery are actually of the food...

True. But isn't that the way it should be? The restaurant is there to serve as a pleasant backdrop to the food.
