Don't get me wrong. The short ribs are not as good as Mike's, but they're still very good.

Ranked dishes we had:

Riblets - 10.
Steak - 9.5.
Short Ribs - 8.75.
Veal flatbreads - 8.

Next time you are there try the burger (medium rare-if you are ok with it nice and pink). I have even split that with someone as an appetizer. It is stellar.

Yeah, we got the steak done medium rare, which is how I recommend it.

I'll make a note of it.

Thanks.

Steak better than Mike's?

Hard to order short ribs anywhere besides Mike's as it's so inadequate after that.  Like flying coach abroad :P

Couldn't disagree more (except with the fact that the ambiance and service are 10x nicer).

Was there last night and got Lamb Riblets (probably top 5 appies I've ever gotten anywhere, along with Duck Gnocchi from Mikes, and Chicken Strips at T-Fusion), Crisp Veal Salumi Flatbread, Short Ribs, and 16 oz steak special (which was one of the best steaks I've had).
I know this is the Manhatten one, but you mention the chicken Strips at T-Fusion. We're headed their IYH tomorrow night. What about them?

If Mike's short ribs are like flying first abroad I feel comfortable saying ETC's short ribs are like flying business. Not quite as good but pretty close.

I though economy plus at best compared to Mike's.

Just went to NoBo last night- was mildly disappointed. I liked the vibe of the place- but the servers made me feel a bit hurried.

I suggest ordering all the starters and/or a salad and skipping the mains. The starters were intriguing and different but none of the mains called to me. In the end we went with the Sous Vide Lamb Chops- and they were pretty uninteresting.

I do agree with some of the Yelpers- some of the food is a bit too salty. Also wish they had some more vegetable options- as the meats are all pretty fatty and when I left I felt ready to barf.

We shared the Prime Beef Tartare, Sautéed Veal Sweetbreads (meh), Crisp Veal Salumi Flatbread (yah!), Slow Roasted Lamb Riblets (yah!), Homemade Spaetzle (salty, meh), and the Sous Vide Lamb Chops (meh).

Went with my wife using a Groupon or Living Social or whatever. For the starter we shared the Thai Beef Salad and we really liked it. Nothing particularly caught our eye for the mains, so we just went with the most expensive one, which was the prime rib for two. It wasn't bad, but we were definitely underwhelmed. The sides were good, I think we had fries (came with the entree), rice, and string beans. Service was okay, not great (that could have been more because of the Groupon than the service in general, though that's a poor excuse), and they keep the room too dark for my taste.

Hmm, thanks, have the groupon as well and planning on going there tonight. Seems like most of the groupon offers for restaurants don't live up to expectations. (Mendy's experience was terrible...)

It's all about expectations. I don't think the food was any different because we used a Groupon, we just didn't like the entree we chose. Even with that, it was certainly worth the price.
