Combine Basils food and Noi Due service- and I'd have me a winner!

Oh, and I'll use Prime at the Bentley's location.

If you combine Mike's short ribs w/ Noi Due's cheese balls and you'll have a winner too :P

Noi Due food is way better than Basil. No comparison.
How you can judge a non-pizza shop by just their pizza is beyond me.

you can elevate any food to fine dining. mac n cheese is a classic example

Granted. I was hoping to try them but they weren't on the menu, only as we were leaving did I see them on the menu chalkboard.

But even then, from the photos, it sounds more like the chef was going for extreme comfort food rather than gourmet taste.

You gotta change your ideas about pizza.

Mendelsohn's is a pizza shop. Noi Due is a cafe. They both serve pizza. Doesn't make them both be of equal caliber. Both also serve fish and pasta.

Going into a place that people rave about their homemade pastas, raviolis, gnocchis, and the plethora of homemade sauce choices for each of those dishes and ordering pizza and fries and saying you weren't impressed is like going to a steakhouse and ordering a burger and saying you weren't impressed.

There's nothing wrong with pizza or burgers, it's just that I'd assume it's on the menu for kids.  I'd go to a burger joint or pizza shop to order those items.

I disagree. There are burgers and there are better, gourmet burgers. Which is why they can cost upwards of $30 each!

The items I choose at a restaurant are according to my preference. But good, flavorful, food done right is up to the restaurant to create according to their standards.

Territory of adults only?

Territory of adults only?
1. It's an appy.
2. It's fried in a delicious crust with a cheese sauce around it and taken to a completely new level.  I'd hardly call that "mac n cheese"

Again, I'm not saying a burger shouldn't be good.  It's just poor ordering.  I'd laugh at the person who judges Le Marais or Reserve Cut based on a burger.

Again, Italian pizza is not like American pizza. It doesn't have mean cheap, mass-produced, fast food. It can be as artisan, as gourmet, as any pasta dish.

Nobody's arguing with that or with the gourmet burger.  I still stand by my statement.

If a gourmet restaurant is serving gourmet, hand-crafted, artisan pizza, I shouldn't be able judge them based on that?

Went to Talias Steakhouse last night with my wife and her sis and bro in law. We got two appetizers, four entrees, and a bottle of wine (groupon for four).

 The rank:

Lamb lollipops-  8/10
Thai Beef salad- 7/10- came with a  few pcs of meat (as an appy its ok), meat was rare, and i got a mouthful of dressing in one bite which was not pleasant

Prime rib for one- 5/10- grilled well, but no flavor
Pepper crusted filet mignon- 7/10- grilled perfectly to medium rare, but again, not much flavor
Middle eastern marinated grilled chicken- 7/10
Middle eastern kebab platter- 7/10

Ambiance: It was loud, pretty crowded, and hard to hear the person sitting across from you.

Disclaimer: Entrees are not suppose to come with the original side dishes when using the groupon, but two of our plates ended up with them anyways!
Was there same night  with bro &  sister in law,  same menu but they ran out of prime rib
