Food isn't half as good either IMO

Where would you suggest that fits the criteria?

Reserve cut for best ambiance, Mikes for best food and service but cramped and ugly, and prime grill is the best for decent service, decent ambiance, and decent food (although the reserve cut steak at PG is phenomenal and gives Mike a run for his money).

Food is excellent at tevere, the best veal you will ever have. As far as taking your wife etc somewhere special, to me nothing tops tevere. Everywhere else is too noisy.

I respect your opinion but I disagree. Veal at mikes, PKO, and Le Marais is better. RC is just a s quiet and so is PG depending on the time you go

That veal at Tevere sounds great and heard good things about RC. But where is a Kosher rest that is dark, candlelit, RELAXING? You see them everywhere in NYC but not Kosher! IS it not profitible for Kosher rest to imitate this style? or am i just not finding them?

Because more people care about food than ambiance.
RC charges sky high prices for food that isn't nearly as good as Mike's or even Le Marais.  I don't think that model can survive.

But there are others. Rare has nice ambiance and is roomy.
TPG in Beverly Hills had the best ambiance ever but was very short lived.

I agree their prices are very high and the food is not as good as Mike's or LM, but they are very busy and because they are opened for lunch I do think they can survive in that area. Their food is still very good.

pretty good breakdown!
as an aside, i went to abigaels a couple weeks ago for lunch with clients (hadnt gone there in years) and was pretty disappointed in service and food, though the prices are pretty reasonable (24 for a seared tuna salad that was pretty good). my friend ordered a steak medium rare with normal thin burger fries (not fat steak fries) and they brought a burnt dry steak with thick fries. they brought another about 10 minutes later and gave a free soup, but just was a little embarassing being the jew forcing these peeps to eat here instead of a quality non-kosher place. i will stick to RC (downtown) and PG (uptown) probably from now on.

-10 (I don't usually go that high but I strongly disagree, sorry)
Tevere is extremely cramped. So much so that if you are bored with your conversation, you can easily join the table next door's. It is quiet though.

When I was there it was empty though it was early in the evening.
I shudder to think what the rent on that space must run.

I'll be surprised if it's still around in a few years unless they hire a new head chef.

Abigael's has a lot of fans here, but your experience mirrors mine.

I heard a rumor of what the rent is and it is high! What would a new head chef do? I think that the food is very good.

Nothing blew me away except their soup and at those prices I'd better be blown away by a whole lot more than soup if they want me to return.

The prices are high because of their location where people are going for lunch and dinner for business. IMO the steaks were just as good as PG and price was not much different.

Going to RC tonight. Haven't been there in a while. Anyone been there recently? Anything new on the menu I should try?
