I didnt check my status it popped up right away that i'm eligible for discounts, not sure about the status. (as u mentioned this is my first account with them, so not sure what its supposed to look like.)

I got an email right away from them with the Marriott Rewards number. I tried logging in and it wouldn't work. Today I tried again and still didn't work so I clicked forgot password, it asked me to make a new password and got in.

Well it is a new account, so you never really had a password... As soon as you get the email, just go to "Setup online password"

Got an error message to set up the account. I received the # after I applied, received the welcome email today.
I am in the middle of a chat with a rep. He set up the account, but I don't see silver status. I asked him to confirm

I think it takes time to post. I just got an email that I'm silver and I did it a couple days ago. (I did at though)
