Nothing special here, just felt like sharing
I signed up for the Barclay card.
Spent $.01
now I'm 40k richer.

The only funny part is why I have a $.01 credit to my account also.

Nothing better. There was an NFL $400 but I think that's dead, and they have some other airline partners that offer up to 20k signup bonuses, e.g. Aer Lingus, Virgin America, and others.

How did you get 40k without a balance transfer?

Funny, the same sort of thing happened to me.  I spent 76 cents in Trader Joe's as a "first purchase" to get the signup bonus.

When I took a look at my bill, there was a charge for 76 cents and then a "credit adjustment" for that amount!
Of course I also got the 40k miles.

I called up Barclays for the heck of it to find out about this "credit adjustment".  After a few minutes of investigating, the rep came back on the phone to tell me that the "merchant refunded the purchase"!  Lol!  Why would trader Joe's refund me for buying bananas, IIRC they were quite tasty ;)

It's usually the cc who takes off the balance because of the low amount.

Many cards wipe off charges under $1.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Many cards wipe off charges under $1.
So if I keep with me a dozen credit cards which I'd otherwise never use, and every time I park swipe one of them for 25/50/75 cents, they'd wipe them off?

Sounds like a cool way to pay for parking :)
