what are travelers cheques and how do they work in regards to getting points?are they like the dollar coins deal?

Travelers checks are similar to money orders, though used by travelers while traveling. They can be cashed at banks and at many hotels, and can be voided if they are stolen.

With the recent Amex promo, you can buy up to $1,000 in checks every two weeks without incurring and cash advance fees. They are better than the coins in the sense that you are not carrying a load of coins to the bank, but the checks will cost you a $5.95 transaction fee.

what happens now? does it charge cash advance fee? even on Visa/MC?

 I dont believe so but no pts of any kind, so unless you actually plan to use the TC as TCs theres nothing to be gained.

I guess its sort of an interest free loan but I think 41k is the max so unless a person is really in bad shape I just dont see what good it will do. From what I understand it also will not count towards any min amount that must be charged. So if you need $15k in charges for the bonus word was youd still need $15k in charges besides whatever you got in TCs
