Too busy with the Alitalia deal to go out for pizza, just made a box of Frankel's Cheese Ravioli topped with Barilla Roasted Garlic tomato sauce and Haolam Parmesan cheese.
And drinking seltzer I made from my sodastream.

What's on your menu?

how does the sodastream rate? is it much cheaper to make seltzer vs buying device and co2/flavors etc? have been toying with the idea for some time...

I forget the site I found it on, but it wasn't totally my design.

First, buy a CO2 tank (empty) on ebay.  I think I got mine for $85 on ebay. I found a gas supply place 10 minutes from me that fills/exchanges for around $25. This is where you save the most money.  I fill a 20-lb tank for $25. I think the guy online said it should make 700 gallons. Yes, gallons.

Then you need a CO2 regulator. This basically makes the gas a usable pressure. Make sure to get a CO2 regulator as it has a different coupling than most gas regulators.  I got one on ebay for about $25.

The next part is the most ingenious.  Take a cap of the bottles you plan on using, and drill a hole through it.  The guy online suggested using a tire valve with the stem removed. push that through the hole, making sure its airtight and then taking a hose attach it to the valve. Attach the other side to the regulator, and voila, a seltzer maker.

Cost:
Tank-$85
Regulator-$25
Tire valve-$3
Random hoses and attachments-$15-$20

Gas fill-$25.

Sound low to me, but assuming 60 that's 20 cents a bottle at $12 or 16.7 cents at $10.
I've got a ton of $5 coupons, never paid more than $10 yet.
Best part is not having to shlep cases of seltzer home from the store.

Too much hassle.  I go through maybe 6 canisters in a year, or $60.
And it's compact enough to sit on the counter.

On BBB.com I don't see any that are available in store. All of them say ships straight from vendor. Which model do they have in store?

They have many models in store.  They also sell dishwasher safe bottles in the store and they do Co2 exchanges in the store.

i have the cheapest model, they are all the same produuct, just differnt design.

pros
-no shlepping
-cheaper
-bottels keep fizz longer (they have a rubber gasket inside the cap that seals them tight)
-choose ur fizz level (i do 12 beeps)
-great taste

cons
-need to shlep out to store to replace co2
(some stores give a discout if u return the old bottle, i know db does, you can also mail it back)
-take out machine every time you refill
-sometimes the machine leaks some of the water out when u fizz to many times.

all in all I luv my machine, and i luv the taste its like small bubbles,
Anyone in lkwd wanna come by and see/taste send a PM.

The funniest thing was I had the $130 model and decided to return it for the $99 model (does the same thing) and when I went to exchange they made me pay for the Co2 that was empty but then they gave me 2 Co2 canisters with the $99 model so now I only have to shlep out every few months for the exchange.

I see a couple of $99 models. The regular jet and the Fizz
Ultimately though considering how basic the mechanics are I cant believe they would make a better beverage
