Online Storage/Hosting
« on: June 22, 2008, 06:44:23 PM »
I would like to share a video with a bunch of ppl online, preferably via a link (i.e. I can just email them a link, and they can download it). The file is ~115 MB

Any free ideas? photobucket.com rejects due to "Copyright infringment" (their software recognizes a song on the sound track)

I've found mediafire.com to be better than yousendit since you can easily manage your files, they have unlimited downloads, and don't expire.

I don't know exactly how it works, but youtube you can send a private video to 25 people though im not sure if thy will need a youtube account or not, also you might need to make it in a few clips do to the limit, that probably not what your looking for anyway though it's an option.

You can do so with MobileMe when it comes out though it will cost you a member ship fee of $99 a year, which is so worth it, though you can get a trial im sure for 60 days when it comes out which that may help your needs, if you have te time to wait.

I just realized, you can also use windows live for that, you get 5GB space free and you can have a password on it http://www.dansdeals.com/forums/index.php?topic=147.0

1) As far as I am aware of, you send it doesn't allow hosting, they just send a dynamic one time link, which is only good for 7 days or so
2) I said that file was 115MB, the limit, as AS pointed out is 100MB - Doesn't really help me.

I'd like to share it with more than 25 ppl. Also youtube severly cuts the quality, and converts it to Flash.

As my post said, I'm looking for something for free.

WOW! Thanks a ton, exactly what I was looking for. I (nor apparently any other DDers) was totally unaware of such a site.

Live.com Has file limits of - I think - 16MB.

Also if anyone else is interested, you can host up to 5GB on AOL's xDrive. up to 5 ppl can download a file within a week, but afterward anyone can download it forever, as long as they have an xDrive account

I take that back. File limit is 100MB (which it tells you AFTER you've uploaded the entire file).

Still, it's a really great site. I am definitely going to bookmark it.

I was unaware of the size limit for MediaFire. Another similar service which has a 400mb limit is Fileflyer.com. This is the size it says on the home page. It's possible that they too will give some post of message after the upload is finished. There are numerous other similar services which you can find easily through Google.

transferbigfiles.com i think the limit is 300MB

or you could open an free ADRIVE.com account and get 50gb free - you could upload files and create a link to share the file for someone to download it directly
