Will I be able to achieve the same effects with this camera that an slr will give me? ex. blurred bkgrnd? and will I be able to accomplish it fairly easily? is this price a great value for this camera?

just noticed on BH description - it's f/3.5-5.6. Is that good for lots of indoor good quality photos??

It's your typical kit lens. Good for most everyday usage.

Not quite as good a deal as last week's camera, but still a solid camera at a great price.

Does anyone have input on the sony h300? A friend suggested this as a cheaper option to slr (he has the sony h200).. I don't need all the bells & whistles of the slrs

This has the same amount of bells and whistles as an SLR except interchangeable lenses, and the image quality of a fairly lousy P&S.

Even better deal than last week’s (which is still alive BTW):
