Nice checker for what can and cannot officially be brought through security.
My TSA - Home Airport
You may want to print out their policy for under-educated agents.

The final decision rests with the TSA officer on whether an item is allowed through the checkpoint.

Liquids through security
« on: October 24, 2012, 08:17:50 AM »
Prompted by Dan's TR in the main site:

Quote
The Sweet and Sour and the Lemon Chicken came with the sauce in a container on the side, but luckily the good folks at the TSA didn’t notice that I dared bring liquid past them.  But good to know for the future to request the sauce to be in the meal and not on the side where it can be mistaken for something nefarious.
I heard that the TSA scanners can't detect liquids in a paper bag, I have friends who claim to have taken through bottles of Mashke. Anyone heard of this?

I guess that makes sense, they only pick up liquids and ice is a solid. Wouldn't help much for Mashke :(

Seems hard to believe, but I couldn't believe they let me through either.
It was indeed in paper.

IME they see the shape of the container and pull it out. (Not commenting on paper, rather the method they usually use, I think had more to do with the bottle shape than the contents). On another note I once had them let me through with a drink box of cappuccino! Because it was paper?

True but the theory goes that liquid can't be seen through the paper. Any expert opinion on the physics behind this?

On a somewhat related  issue (to the thread name) from the TSA--
As of January 31, 2014, passengers traveling internationally into the U.S. and connecting to another flight are allowed to have in their carry-on baggage liquids in excess of 3.4 ounces (100 mL) that were purchased as duty-free merchandise. This only applies to products purchased in duty-free stores, placed in an intact designated secure, tamper-evident bag, and successfully screened and cleared by TSA officers. Scanning may not be effective for liquids in opaque, ceramic, or metallic bottles, or other containers. Liquids that cannot be screened and cleared will not be allowed to remain in carry-on baggage. Customers may choose to place these items into checked baggage or throw them away.

LOL

You may be able to buy OJ - I think most are Kosher l'Pesach perhaps even without the "P". Look into it.

Also, this should be in Up in the Air...

When traveling in Asia, we were able to bring whatever we wanted and "got away" with it because we had a baby.
