Didn't even know they had an upstairs  :-[

Much better?
It's bright and airy. Much more quite as the bar and music is all downstairs and there is usually a good crowd upstairs.

Is anyone familiar with the Kashrus status of Sacred Chow? I'm supposed to meet someone there. It's Vegan if that helps, but open on Shabbos.

Most people I know won't eat IKC. Or Vaad Harabonim Lemeshmeret Hakashrut (Cup-K), OKS, and one or 2 others that seem to have their hechsherim on a bunch of places in the city.

I called a place and asked the hechsher and they responded (what I thought I heard) kof K. So I went in and happen not to see any religious ppl so as I was about to order I asked to see kosher paper and realized they meant Cup-k.
-I left

Top 3 are probably:

1. Reserve Cut
2. Prime at the Bentley
3. Abigaels? (Very quiet, not great views)

Reserve and prime are good calls
but i rather Le Marias over abigaels

Was in mikes last night and was truly amazing food!!
Tried the tuna nachos which was good but nothing special
Braised short rib- prob best dish I've ever had!!
Steak off the menu they said its a good steak if u like med-well (not for me- so hold back the comments) surprisingly it was really good and juicy esp for a med-well. And we got the sweet potato frites on side which we're amazing and came with a cranberry dipping sauce.

Service was so-so . esp after the waitress denied taking my $$ and coming back and telling us tip isn't included. I said I know and she just put it back down on our table-
Here's what happened;
I gave almost exact in cash for the bill(rounded up $4) and was planing on leaving the tip on the table after when they bring it back. - is this the norm? - to my defense I usually pay with card and add tip after so that's what I was planning in doing without putting any thought on it. Was it the right thing? Or is it  a given when paying cash to give it all at once?

I can't be sure, buy I always got the feeling the name is intentional, so people think it's kof-k. It's definitely not a reliable hashgocha.

I was there tonight. I got the off the menu steak (crescent cut). Very good...thanks!
The table next to us got the sampler. It seems like a good value. It's 7 courses for 110 but it hits up all the main dishes. It is random but everything on the menu is good so I would consider it next time I go. If you let them know you're a foodie and want to try something interesting, they will accommodate.

Suppose I want to buy a gift certificate for a couple to one of the nice steak places (reserve cut, mikes etc...). What should be the ideal amount?

I would say 75 per person it's a nice account.  It may not cover both drinks and dessert but you can't predict if they will order
