I'd rank them:

Andaz 5th Ave.
Andaz Wall St.
Hyatt 48LEX
GH NYC

Dan, what kind of upgrades (if any) can a Hyatt Plat expect when redeeming an award (systemwide nights) stay at each of these locations?

I stayed at the Andaz 5th Ave. Used a Diamond Suite Upgrade and got put in the Splash Suite.  Was absolutely stunning.  Humongous suite with a great view and amazing customer service.  Couln't find a complaint if  I tried (which I did)Got there at 12:05 Sat night which is already sunday and found a parking spot directly in front of the hotel for free! Ate at Le Marais.  I went cheap since I had lunch at Cafe K about an hour earlier.  Got the $19.95 Steak and fries which imho was awesome.  Overall it was a great trip and I did not need to pay for parking once

Did anyone do this Discovery Dead Sea scrolls exhibition: http://www.discoverytsx.com/exhibitions/dead-sea-scrolls ?
Did you like / would you recommend it?
I finally made it to Discovery's Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit. Was awesome. They have some really amazing stuff there aside from the Dead Sea Scrolls. Very nicely laid out. Feel's like you're walking back in time.

Unfortunately, I mistakenly left my Groupon tix at home and had to pay full price.
Fortunately, if anyone wants to buy my 2 tix for $15 each instead of $30, it's yours.

Did you try to load the Groupon PDF on your BB?

Darn, no I did not. Did that ever work for anyone? Now that I think of it, that guy at the will call window said that he could pull up my tix with the Groupon confirmation code. Oh well.

I saw it in Israel at the Shrine of the Book at Israel Museum, it was interesting although I personally found the Aleppo Codex more interesting (more Jewish, and in general more my type of thing).

Looking to book some family in a hotel in NYC and since I am from out of town and haven't yet explored the Big Apple I need some advice.

It have Marriot, Hyatt, and Priority Club points. I'm looking for the nicest hotel in the middle of all the action and/or close to a pretty view in central park.

          Advice?

Thanks. No children are going on this trip! :)

I narrowed it down to the Andaz 5th Avenue , Marriot Marquis, Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel, and the Grand Hyatt New York-

I don't know New York really well so... which of one these would be the most in the action? Or next to a pretty area by Central Park?
and better q- which one is closest to some tasty food?

Don't know about the others and don't know New York too well, but the Andaz is on 5th avenue which is definitely action and around the corner from Times Square which is forsure where the action is.  Marriott Marquis I think is right in the middle of Times Square.  Personally I think a little TOO in the action.

Easiest is a cab, cheapest is the subway, and safest is walking.

Depending on where your going around $40. IMHO you should take the subway for $2.50

Is it safe? Easy? It's going to be my Israeli relatives. They don't speak too much english.
Think that will be alright?

It should be simple. Depending on where your going if you need to transfer or not.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend taking the subway late at night. In general the Subway's system runs on a slower paced schedule at night and it will take longer. (the really slow schedule used to be from 12 AM, but I saw signs last week saying they are moving it back even earlier). It will be even harder for your relatives who don't speak/read English. Just imagine them trying to find directions or missing their stop. And lastly, it's not that safe.
If they're spending money/points and a nice city hotel, let them enjoy it all the way with a nice taxi ride home.
Just my $0.02.

Did they have other interesting things there aside from the Scrolls/Codex?
It was the scrolls together with all the other things they had there that really made it worthwhile.
