looking to do a day trip from NYC. fly out in the morning fly back that night. Can't stay overnight.
Was thinking boston but I've been there before. Anyone have any better ideas? (end of may time so weather should be good anywhere) TIA

Basically, any big city with early morning flights out and late flights back and things to do in the big city.

Chicago would be a good option.

Also take distance from airport to sites into account

Short flights include: BOS, DC, PHL, TOR, BUF (Niagra Falls). CHI could work too, though a bit further. If going along the Northeast corridor, Amtrak is might be quicker and cheaper (quicker due to Amtrak being much closer to city-centers in those cities, especially if you take Acela), plus no security).

If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

Mini Day Trip Report Lower Manhattan.

This week was in the 9days so we stayed local.

We went to the Museum of Jewish Heritage. Kids under 12 are free and we bought groupons for $9 a piece. We did the museum in about 90 minutes. It’s on the Hudson and New York Harbor so if you park in Battery Park City I suggest you walk on the water for a nice walk. We then walked to Bravo Pizza for lunch. We have been there many times in the past but we’re extremely disappointed. They claimed it was cash only. Additionally during a 9 days Sunday they only had 2 people working in the store. The pizza was not cooked enough and it just wasn’t what it used to be. It’s a shame.

We then walked around the corner to the Bull, Bowling Green and then the Museum in the old Customs Building at one Bowling Green. The museum is free but nothing special. However, the actual architecture in the main Rotunda is stunning and a must see. There is also a kids exhibition on the first floor. You can probably do the entire museum in 45 minutes if you have kids. 15-20 minutes if you don’t. We then went to Battery Park and Castle Clinton where we spent about 5-10 minutes and then back to Battery Park City for our car. Total trip about 3 and a half hours.

I basically stopped going to Bravo Midtown because they always randomly are cash only. Its very annoying.
