Anybody looking to use Dagan for Bituach Leumi anytime soon? Apparently he is much cheaper if you go with someone else.
Can I ask what specifically you are using him for?

Ok. Just mentioning that 80% of what he does there's no need for and can be done yourself.

I am leaving the country and need it done very quickly. If needed I can do it myself but if I can get it for a reasonable price it's worth the premium for me.

I was told $600 but it's supposedly a little more than half that if you come with someone else. And apparently I'll get reimbursed for what I've been paying into Meuchedet all this time so I figure it will just about even out.

You get reimbursed even without him, and it only goes back 6 months.

Unless they changed the regulations (quite possible) you get payed back for as long as you payed Meuchedet on your current visa... I got "payed back" for almost 2 years (although that meant that I had to pay BL 2 years of payments when admitted).

Definitely not what happened with me or the others I helped do it? When was this.
(And I still had to pay Betuach leumi more then 6 months back)

3 years ago.. I got a 3 year visa when I was a buchor, returned married with 1 year and change still remaining- when I joined BL they made me pay 120 or so shekel a month from the beginning of the visa. This happened to many of my friends. I fought with them to no avail (I was even thinking of "losing" my passport so that I would need a new visa). In the end between the $ they give for having a kid, plus being reimbursed partially (about 60%) for my Meuchedet payments I broke evenish..

PSA for anyone who needs a student visa:

If you don't want to wait for months to get an appointment at the Misrad Hapnim, take note...

There's a new Misrad Hapnim office in Har Choma (southern Jerusalem, near Gilo), located at Eliyahu Koren 25 (https://goo.gl/maps/Vk9mC7CtK2T2). As of now, they are allowing people to come - without an appointment! - between 8 and 10 AM, any day of the week except Wednesday. So if you need a visa in a hurry, go before they change the rules...

I'm planning on getting a student visa now for my wife and I, and the plan is to get bituach leumi in 6 months. However I just realized that my wife still has a valid visa from when she was here for seminary and it doesn't expire for another year.

Am I totally messed up with bituach leumi? From what I hear I would have to back pay from the beginning of her student visa- which was 3 years ago?!?

Does anyone have any knowledge of these things? Or know who I can call to find out? Thanks.

You will not back pay . Her new visa will be a different type . "Wife of a student" . It's on the new visa that you will be applying for bituach le'umi.
