This thread isn't relevant to me (at least not since I moved back to the USA years ago) but there's this organization that every English-speaker should know of. It's called Chaim Vchesed.  Can't really write up on it as I'm on my phone but Google them. They were very helpful with a few relatives of mine that had misrad hapnim issues (as well as medical issues).
Seems like they do many other things as well for English speaking people. Tons of useful info on their website. https://chaimvchessed.com

Amazing org. They've helped people I know more than you can imagine. They'll help you with anything bureaucratic.

I know this might not be the right thread but anyone who needs to take care of arnona, you need to make an appointment. They won't let you in without one.

Just wanted to give a data point. Went today to Yerushalayim on shlomtzion without an appointment. Arrived 10:30 and got a ticket. Was called in a bit after 12 and got a new student visa (not renewal) for me, and A4 for wife and 2 kids on the spot. Took about 20-25 minutes. They don't need pictures, and didn't need apostille certified marriage certificate. Lots of incorrect info online including on Chaim Vechessed.
Google also claims the office is permanently closed  ::)

Actually I think the new thing is they give until the your passport expires or your wifes passport expires.
I got 5 years on a brand new 10 year passport.

I think he meant that the max is either 5 years or expiration, whichever happens first.

I have a student visa, but no longer live there. I want to go for a trip and donít want to pay VAT. Any tips? Just cut out those passport pages?

Maybe make an X on it? Like they canceled it when you left, if that ever actually happens.

They have the info in the computer. You could probably just ask the agent to cancel it

They will ask to see the slip of paper that shows the tourist visa, which you won't get if you have a student visa (It will show that you have a student visa)
