Take along the birth certificate that they gave you in the hospital, Both parents passports.

when you get to misrad hapnim: don't take a number, you just need to go to YAKOV (I think room 201) and he gives it, (he is the only one that could do it)

You should wait at least a week after the birth because it takes time till it shows up in the system. (that's what they told me once)

AFAIK they only give it in the morning hours (and not in the afternoon on the days that they are open afternoon hours)

one more question. I see in an old newcomers guide that the mother is the one that has to pick up the birth certificate, was that the case by you?

I once got there half hour before closing and they didn't let anyone in because it was FULL.

If the husband is a U.S. citizen and the wife is a dual citizen (us & IL) and doesn't need a visa does the husband need to bring his marriage license?

I don't know for sure, but from my experience they only need the marriage license when they are tying two visas together. However, you never know with the misrad hapanim, and I'd bring it anyway.

I went to get a hanacha for Arnona and they said I can only get from when I got visa which was last month. Does that sound right?

I have friends that got told the same thing. Apparently this is the new law. But if you get lucky, like me, there are people that don't realize when your visa was issued and then you can get the hanacha for the whole rental.

Nope. Guess I'll be going in person.

I'm not even sure if I'll be getting anything. I got the discount in March for the entire year for an apartment that I moved out of in the beginning of April. I moved into this apartment in July (officially), to find that the arnona wasn't paid yet. I'm not so concerned about getting it for the first six months, because the first tenant is responsible for that, but I obviously want to get it for the second six. Anyone have experience with this sort of situation?
