Just to clarify, paying the application fee doesn't mean automatic approval.

You first need to get conditionally approved in order to get an appointment,  and then when you go down to the office,  they ask you more questions and can decline you if they'd like.

GE is not a card, its you passport number which is enrolled into the GE program.
part of the GE package is, they give you a card which is used for NEXUS/SENTRI land crossing as well security precheck.

you seem to be a bit confused. while its true that ge can be used at some nexus crossings, such as outbound yyz where there are ge machines next to the nexus ones, you are absolutely not enrolled in the nexus program.

part of the enrollment process is to meet with the canadian equivalent of the tsa, as well as have your iris scanned. you cannot use your ge on arrival at yyz

Global entry is the card and passport in the GE program.

Nexus and Sentri is a different program which also gives you access to GE. When signing up, i signed up first for Nexus then realized my mistake, cancelled that one, and then reapplied for GE. GE does not give you access to Nexus/Sentri. Unless something changed recently

GE gets you access to Nexus Lanes when entering the USA, not when entering Canada

And silly you (sorry...), GE is $100, Nexus is $50 and why more benefits...

while your are right about the getting into canada part, as I wrote before it can be used at all Land crossing into the US from Canada and from mexico.
not sure how the Canada part works but I know the Sentri program is to leave mexico.(and saved me a 3  hour line)

Agreed. You do not have full NEXUS/SENTRI access.
However, you have access to the NEXUS and SENTRI lines entering the US from either Canada or Mexico, just not entering Canada and Mexico, which is half of what NEXUS/SENTRI gives you.
So you have half of NEXUS/SENTRI.

its just to bring your papers proof of address and they ask you random questions and tell yo the rules.
If you are getting nexus you have to get your iris's scanned and do GE you get your fingerprints taken.
Under 18 is free IIRC.

PS, SENTRI is only when entering ISA, even for paid SENTRI members, and the "auto" has to be pre-approved
