Global Entry will also give you TSA Pre✓® and cost $100
TSA Pre-check is for going on the quick TSA screening line at airports in the USA. On US airlines with a few exceptions. Whether you're flying domestic or international. 
GE is to cut the immigration lines coming back home - at select airports.


B) Global Entry -  Everyone must have their own, even children.
TSA Pre✓® - Family members ages 12 and under traveling with an eligible parent or guardian with a TSA Pre✓® indicator on their boarding pass can participate in expedited screening. (Family members 13 and older must go through standard security lanes or should apply for a DHS trusted traveler program.)

It depends... I was approved in under a week, but scheduling the interview it didn't work for a few weeks (time wise).

My brother in law applied and took about 10-14 days to get approved and scheduled an appointment for the interview the next day...

They changed it recently. Just applied for my 22 month old and 2 month old yesterday.
Supposedly they can waive the fingerprint requirement for babies.
