but no limit how much it'll take off, as opposed to stop & shop which caps at $2.20

It caps off at 30 gallons? I wouldn't know because I have a thirty gallon tank. Anyone have any bigger than that?

I believe by S&S the limit is 35 gallons, don't know if it's the same there.

Even when gas was 3.95 a gallon, I was getting $120 worth of gas for precisely $0.00.

A friend of mine who lives in Pittsburgh works for a contruction company and they buy tens of thousands of dollars in Home Depot cards from the grocery store and then just give them to home depot to add to their "account" when they buy supplies.  He or his company (plenty of trucks and machines) haven't paid for gas in years.... This isnt new I heard about this over five years ago.
