Citibank transfers to other institutions
« on: October 26, 2012, 11:30:14 AM »
I was going to transfer 10k from my Citi checking to fund my new Chase savings account and it's saying I can only transfer 2k daily? What is this garbage? There's no such limits for Chase. Am I missing something?

I really don't want to go down to a Citi branch and have to request a 10k cashier's check.

Can't you ACH pull it from the Chase account?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I didn't think of that. It should still count as new money right? I did a Chase savings coupon and I need to deposit 10k into the account to get the bonus.

Might be best to use a cashier's check to be on the safe side. $200 for $10k depsoit, eh?

No the max amount for the Chase savings coupons is $150, so $350 total each year with the $200 checking coupons.

Can you think of any reason why an ACH pull from Citi wouldn't count as new money in my Chase account?

I'm not sure about that, but if it must be direct deposit, a pull may not count for such. Chase told me a push will count as a DD. And sure enough through the Fidelity deal it counted towards the DD requirements on my monthly statements. I've had pulls refused but when I pushed it there was acceptance on the same amount.

This is a savings account coupon, not a checking account coupon. There is no direct deposit requirement. They just want $10,000 in new money deposited into the account, money not held by Chase.

So a pull should be fine right?

I think so. New money should mean money not transferred in from a Chase affiliate.
