Kenwood Headunit Navigation - iPhone 5 Compatible?
« on: October 26, 2012, 11:48:51 AM »

Hi, This question is for all you Kenwood Head-unit/ Navigation owners.

I have the Kenwood DNX-9980HD built in head unit with navigation.
I currently have the iPhone 4S and they get along pretty good..

Audio over Bluetooth Streaming (A2DP)
I'm also able to play my iPhone songs and videos via th special cable (ip-302) and control them on the head unit.

I would like to upgrade to iPhone 5 and I know there are compatible problems in all the above-mentioned aspects.

The new 8 pin lightning connector is totally digital and as a result wouldn't allow video to stream over the current cable (even with the special 30-to-8 pin adaptor by apple).

The bluetooth (phone and A2DP) isn't working either but this will be corrected by a kenwood software update (as per Kenwood Corporate).

Question, any of you guys with the 9980HD navigation head unit with iPhone 5, have you find any work-arounds and would you hold on purchasing the iPhone 5 due to the compatibility issues?
