With sm I had zero luck. I'm contemplating if I should go ahead calling them as I basically have no legit reason to ask for the bonus as I have a platinum with them.
I'm just curious if they would try and satisfy me as I put on that card the first month almost 30k.

For threatening to cancel you can get at least a fifth of the bonus in form of retention.

I SMed then and they gave me a date that I would be eligible . I think they did not realize what other cards I had at the time and if I applied for the card that I SMed them about I will not get the bonus
accordinging to the T & Cs

About a month ago I signed up for a Gold Business & Platinum with Dans links (Thanks Dan!:)) and I almost reached my spending thresholds on both cards...I was on the phone with AMEX today and they told me that I will only be getting the reward points for my Gold Business & not the Platinum because I can only get 1 offer (even though when I signed up there was offers on both cards)

....has anyone else had this issue?? how to proceed?

I did it twice in the past 3 months and got the bonus on both of them, both times.

Perhaps someone can help me with this? I was inspired by Dan to apply for a second SPG Amex card and was approved. I had just assumed that I would be receiving the welcome bonus again, but now, after spending 5k, it has not happened yet. I sent them a SM and received the following reply:

Dear Mr. DSHAP,

Thank you for taking your valuable time to write to us about this.

I have checked your account and see that you already have a Starwood Preferred Guest Card account (ending in 51008) on which you have received the welcome bonus of 30,000 Starpoints.

Our offer terms specify that you may have more than one Starwood Preferred Guest Card; however, you?re eligible to receive welcome bonus for only one Starwood Preferred Guest Card account.

Therefore, I am afraid; you will not receive any bonus points on your Starwood Preferred Guest Card account ending in 81003.

We hope this does not discourage you from taking advantage of all the other great benefits that come with your new Card and invite you to explore those benefits at www.americanexpress.com.

Is there a way to appeal this? Do I have a chance? Did I make an amateur's mistake somewhere along the way?

Did you put in a starwood guest number?
Did you get the initial 10k bonus?

side Q, is it better to leave it blank, or create a new account, use the new account number, and merge after bonus posts?

just curious what you would answer when you call in to cancel and they say okay let's go ahead and cancel the card and don't offer any retention bonus?
Just to update i sent another sm and they replied that it was sent to to a different department and they would handle the matter and let me know.

i left it blank once based on forum advice, and it issued me a new #, but when i tried to activate it online i got an error. less than a week later both accounts were merged

so now i'm trying with a new # (when i set it up on spg i added a middle initial- hopefully wont get merged
