1st of all, thanx for the compliment. 2nd of all, a guy wanted to know if he could apply twice in 1 year or if he should be scared of the 12 month rule, to answer that question - the rule doesn't exist. Any ways, gimme a break, is it really so lame!?!

from my experience If the app that you used to sign up for the card is good then your points will post even if u had the card in the last 12 months but if its a problematic app like the platinum vanilla apps then u need to call after 8 weeks to get your points, on the phone they told me they cant give it because i got the bonus already in the past 12 months but i sent a sm and they posted the points manually

LOL, a CSR told him he won't get it bec. he had it already. If a CSR says something that makes it true?, the CSR was most probably talking from his ..., BTDT.

The last time I cancelled my MB platinum card, the csr was extremely nasty and abusive. I then learned to sm to cancel. However, even though I asked for the refund check to be mailed to me when i sm'ed them, it still required a follow up phone call

I also had a MB Plat. after my regular platinum and they didn't mention anything about it only about the regular platinum that i had a few months earlier could be that they only enforce it on the exact same card (just thoughts)

for sure. they started cracking down on the tricks when they stopped matching offer back in sep 2011. its a slow process it appears so i guess "enjoy it while it still lasts".

+1 Sorry to say. Since I now have had every card that they offer, aside from the Plat Biz version, I will have to wait in line, for the 12 months to pass on each, and the 90 days from previous apps, and be selective about which offers I take.
Maybe they will offer new cards

Amex: I'm so sorry to hear that, if I may ask you, what's the reason that you close your card?
Meshugener: yes, because I heard that recently the terms of amex are getting enforced, and I can not get a signup bonus on a card if I had this card within the past 12 months, so I wanna cancel the card so at least in a year I can get the bonus again.
Amex: oh, oh, you're saying that's its brcauser you wanna take advantage of another amex promotion?
Meshugener: yes.
