Molokai day trip: Truly stunning island. Incredible drive to east coast. Halawa Valley hike was awesome. Kapukahehu Beach will eat your shoes. Kapukahehu Beach is fantastic.

Wait, didn't you go to Lanai this time?

Lanai day trip (my 6th HI island): Arid island, scenery is fairly boring for Hawaii, but also oddly otherworldly and beautiful in a different way. Hard to put a finger on it to describe. Mars-like?

Definitely need a Jeep here.
Puupehe Beach had insane aquarium-like snorkeling, but the currents scared me out early.
Shipwreck beach and the abandoned city of Keomoku aren't really worth the shlep. If you do go, wear protective shoes as the thorns on the ground are vicious, especially on the path behind the old church to the old mill.
Garden of the Gods is a very serene and neat place.
The drive to Polihua Beach is crazy, definitely need to drive in 4WD Low. But it's a fun time if you like extreme off-roading and the reward at the end is a pristine and stunning beach all for yourself. Take dramamine beforehand if you're the passenger.

Landed 10:07am, flight departed 5:36pm.

Trying to plan a Hawaii 25th anniversary trip for me and DW for summer of 2024, and thinking about Lanai - I'd been reading about Sensei Lanai, and I am somewhat intrigued, curious if anyone has ever been there?
