Red square is a must! Worth stopping just for that. To see jewish moscow marina Rosha is a must!! They built what in my opinion is the most advanced holocaust museum in the world at a cost of close to 100 million (currently most advanced museum in russia) and adjacent to marina Rosha. In the same area they have 2 restaurants plus a cafe in museum plus a small Israeli style place. Also have 3 kosher stores.

A boys school girls school, yeshiva, chesed for elderly, two youth clubs...

ive never gotten through to any embassy to know what you need to bring. thats what the internet is for
That's what I said about horrible English on the Russian embassy website, and there is no FAQS there to know about specifics of you need an invitation for which visa... For those who would enjoy multiple trips to the embassy, go for it.

The way to get a russian visa is to contact a tour operator who takes care of everything A-Z..

It's more costly, but they arrange a tourist voucher for you, they submit it and receive it.. worth the money you pay..

One such company is CTVC in Manhattan. a bit pricey but worth saving on the hassle.

Has anyone been in the lounges in SVO Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport using 'lounge club' (from chase ink) ?

How are the lounges? JFK-TLV aeroflot stops in terminal D.  is it worth the walk to terminal E, are the ones in F better ?

What's in the Baby care rooms or Mother & child rooms?

"ve are not an office supply store, ve are ze consulate of ze Rrrrussian Fedarrration"
(asked them for a stapler for something they wanted me to staple!)
but if everything is ready and in order shouldn't be to bad, just be ready for real bureaucracy...

:) been there over 15 times, I have a love hate relationship with Russia and Russians, at the end of the day you just need to look back and laugh at the ridiculousness of it all...

Nice, so what I want to know about specifically is about the processing times it says on their site and automated phone system, and how long it actually takes. For the transit visa I need, it says it takes 4-10 business days. I'm leaving to Russia in 7 business days, so from your experience do you think they will be able to accommodate me? Also, I've heard that sometimes they can do it the same day, but would that only be if you pay a lot extra to expedite it? Lastly, are bribes appropriate at a Russian consulate, or only on real Russian soil?

They can rush it, it really depends on their mood...just be as nice as possible and be organized.

I would not try bribing at the consulate but that may just be me.

Crazy idea to spend a Shabbos in Moscow in Feb. en-route to the Far East? Seems the St. Regis is down the block from the Choral Synagogue

Anywhere nice to eat Shabbos meals?
