So it's only right for them to let u go to a hotel (leave the airport)

That attitude will get you very far outside of Yeshiva.

Moscow Airport
« Reply #64 on: May 01, 2011, 11:20:40 PM »
Hi all
I am going to be in the DOMODEDOVO  (MOSCOW) airport for a whooping 13 hours, (and So is my wife and baby!). It is 500 Dollars cheaper for each of us, and Visas to leave defeat me saving temptation (165 reach, and without taxis Etc). I do have lounge access and that's what my question is about:
1. Are the lounges nice?
2. will they let me stay inside for 13 Hours?
3. and most important: is the airport safe?

Please help!

Don't have answers for ur first 2 q's but regarding ur 3rd q , statistically they don't bomb airports twice in 6 month's  ;)

Not being blown up is pretty good...   :)
What about theft? They say that theft is the Russian expertise
Also, I jut realized that my AMAX platinum will not help me with lounges in DME (domodedovo)! :'( :'( :'(
Does anybody have an idea how I can get access to a lounge? I do see that the business lounge will let me in for 60 Euro, but that's way to much for a dedicated Dans-deals member...

BTW Dan, too much security for a silly post. first I got to strain my eyes for a minute, (and than hope not to make a mistake). Finally I have to  show my loyalty to you - dear Dan...

Hi Nitanel,

What time of day/night will you be there? Do you have Israeli citizenship? (then you would not need a visa) In how long are you flying? From when I last looked into this, it should not be so much for a one day - to 30 day, visa. Where were you thinking of getting the visa?

I lived in Moscow for a few years and I would suggest going in to the city maybe. I can give you places,  ppl etc. There is a cheap, possibly free based on airline carrier, train that takes you into Moscow. I can maybe get you a great driver for cheap, with a nice car.

What else? It is a nice airport. Avoid Sheremetyevo 1 at all cost, so they say. It is notorious, rated the worst airport in the world.

All the best!

I will be there from 8:50PM until 10:40 AM, I do not have Israeli citizenship, and I am flying at the end of June. Visas are expensive: 165 USD per person. I'd rather bring a book and relax/sleep in the lounge, than face the visa/taxi/hotel costs. (and yes, my wife agreed to this!)

It would be lovely to tour around a bit, but like I said, I need a visa and at this point, I will also need to change my Trans-air ticket - don't know how much they will charge for that.

Since it seams like you guys have loads of experience, I was wondering if one of you can help me out here.

I will be in DME for 16 hours as they won't let me free without a visa. Any suggestions in getting into lounges for a good price or even getting out of the airport?

No chance of leaving airport without visa!! I was there a few weeks ago and when I entered the lufthansa lounge there were lots of people surrounding the reception so I didn't even bother showing my ticket.. I doubt that will repeat itself though

There are kem'at no mekomos hakedoshim in Moscow or nearby, if you are thinking of cemeteries etc. (in the Malakhovka beis hakvaros is Rav Dubin of Riga and the "Chaya Olam Nata") but there are many live mekomos hakdoshim in Moscow. There are very nice Kehillos there, Chabad and others, Yeshivas, Kollelim etc. Make sure to check out the restaurant on the top floor of Bolshoi Bronnaya Synagogue, of Rav Yitzchak Kogan.
