Kosher Food Options
Contact Chabad Parana for updated information regarding any Kosher food there. Otherwise plenty of snacks and fruits.

Hotels with Points
None.

Airport Transfer Options
Cab - They are metered from FLN to where you are going. We stayed in Barra Lagoa and it was R$55.
Executive Bus - Yellow buses go between major destinations to the airport and bus terminal - R$6.
Public Bus - Not from the airport. But from the bus station it's tricky but doable - R$3.

Major Activities
Water-sports and relaxing. During peak-season (Dec-Jan) there is plenty to do, such as scuba diving, gliding, boat tours and more. We were there during winter break (Jul) and the waves were great for surfing, and the dunes at Joaquina were great for sandboarding.

There are beautiful beaches all over the island of Florianopolis. During the winter the north beaches tend to be the warmest as the wind doesn't attack it directly. Center/east beaches are really nice, the best for surfing, but can get cold. Mole and Joaquina are the most popular from those. Didn't trek down south on my trip there, but the beaches are supposedly great as well, though very calm and sleepy kind of towns next to them and people going fishing there.

A small town on the west side of the island, has a boardwalk and bicycle path along the water, nice place to go for sunset. Old historic architecture there, many buildings there hundreds of years old. It's about 10-15 minutes north of downtown FLN.

Nuts.
Go eat lunch and take the 3:30pm from CGH-SDU.
On the upside, he can add to this list.

New Itin:

Sun, JFK-MIA, AA, 77W in F, 2:30 PM-5:47 PM
<dinner at Street Kitchen during 4:18 connection>
Sun, MIA-GRU, AA, 77W in J, 10:05 PM-8:30 AM +1
<lunch at Sushi Papaia during 7:05 connection>
Mon, CGH-SDU, LA, PE, 3:35 PM - 4:40 PM, $150 PP with bags
<three days in Rio>
Thu, SDU-GRU, LA, Y, 8:15 PM-9:25 PM, $25 OW PP
<2:40 connection>
Fri, GRU-MIA, 77W in J, 12:05 AM-6:35 AM
<2:05 connection>
Fri, MIA-JFK, 772 in J, 8:40 AM - 11:30 AM

1) I'm told by local TAs, I may be able to change my CGH-SDU flight for $20 day of flight, so if we finish lunch early, we can try to do that.
2) Currently booked at JW Marriott, but exploring upgrading to the Fairmont Rio instead, which is smack in the middle of Copacabana and Ipanema, apparently worlds nicer, although slightly farther from the only open Kosher restaurant, Shaq Shuq.
3) As a result of their being only one open kosher place, and especially because that place is only open from 6-9pm, we'll likely have to bring some food with us. Oh well.

We wanted to go to Maracaná stadium if we could have, but weather. There are also some cool bikes in the jungle I found years ago you can consider.

off the top of my head I'd say
attend a soccer game at the maracana (covid?)
favela tour
farmers market (sunday only?)
Escadaria Selarón (seedy area)

btw this place looks like its still open https://www.facebook.com/sushinharia/ (best sushi I ever tasted)

Oooh, I almost forgot, a favela tour. They're supposed to be quite interesting, but super dangerous to go in by yourself.

Do IGU and GIG?

GRU has a great sushi place and an amazing not kosher pizza restaurant that goes kosher on the first Monday of the month. Not much besides for that, other than some nice Jewish communities for Shabbos.

I booked the $500 RT fare @Dan  posted (thanks @Dan 😊)
I was planning on going on a Africa trip but this cheap fares came up
My question is does it make sense to spend a 9 day vacation in Brazil because of of the cheap fare rather than a an Africa trip (can't do both)

Does it pay to do IGU if I cant do IGR?
100% yes!
Brazil side is the most Panoramic pituresque falls in the world + where you get the best shots.
IGR is beautiful and a must see if you can but in my opinion less unique and simmilar to Niagara falls located in a green National Park.

Anyone been to Brazil lately? If so, can you tell me a little about how it is with Covid restrictions there?

Also, is it safe for 2 women alone to travel there?

Supposed to be traveling there in 2 weeks, and trying to decide if we should cancel the trip or not.
