Kosher Food Options
Contact Chabad Parana for updated information regarding any Kosher food there. Otherwise plenty of snacks and fruits.

Hotels with Points
None.

Airport Transfer Options
Cab - They are metered from FLN to where you are going. We stayed in Barra Lagoa and it was R$55.
Executive Bus - Yellow buses go between major destinations to the airport and bus terminal - R$6.
Public Bus - Not from the airport. But from the bus station it's tricky but doable - R$3.

Major Activities
Water-sports and relaxing. During peak-season (Dec-Jan) there is plenty to do, such as scuba diving, gliding, boat tours and more. We were there during winter break (Jul) and the waves were great for surfing, and the dunes at Joaquina were great for sandboarding.

There are beautiful beaches all over the island of Florianopolis. During the winter the north beaches tend to be the warmest as the wind doesn't attack it directly. Center/east beaches are really nice, the best for surfing, but can get cold. Mole and Joaquina are the most popular from those. Didn't trek down south on my trip there, but the beaches are supposedly great as well, though very calm and sleepy kind of towns next to them and people going fishing there.

A small town on the west side of the island, has a boardwalk and bicycle path along the water, nice place to go for sunset. Old historic architecture there, many buildings there hundreds of years old. It's about 10-15 minutes north of downtown FLN.

So I pay online a day before, and when I arrive they print a visa and put it in my passport?

No. You print our your receipt and show it to them, and they stamp your passport. But you need to hold on to that receipt for 10 years.

+1. Most airlines won't even let you on the plane if you don't show them proof of your payment receipt. They don't want to fly you all the way down to Argentina just to have to fly you back because you didn't pay.

Expect a lot more flight competition now that Azul is entering the US - Brazil market. They will be starting flights to Miami and Orlando in about three months. New York will follow in summer of 2015. AA has already responded by adding 3x weekly JFK and daily MIA service to Campinas...

Bizarre move, won't last.
Reminds me of when AA started flying from ORD and JFK to LGB just to spite B6 even though demand for that route there.

http://airlineroute.net/2015/03/10/aa-jfkvcp-s15cxld/ - MIA is still on for now.

For Argentina-Brazil flights, is GOL or Aerolineas Argentina preferable? Both are bootable with skypesos.
Will probably be flying Y.

1. GRU experts... I am flying in and out of Terminal 3 (on UA). Can I get to the FastSleep hotel which is in between Terminals 1 and 2? I don't have a visa to leave the airport.

2. Has anyone ever rented these little cells? I have 8 hours to spend in GRU and, from my research, the GRU lounge situation seems pretty lame. If I can just have a private place to daven shachris then sit with my laptop and write, I will be happy. Anyone with experience here?

So I've been doing research on car services to Higienopolis for my GRU layover, and the cheapest I found is a mind-boggling $230 RT. The The airport taxi (Guarucoop) comes out to the equivalent of $40 USD each way, and Uber Black (the only Uber in GRU) is anywhere from 25-35 USD each way.

I know Dan said car services are cheaper/more reliable/ faster, and I agree with reliability and speed, but it seems that car service pricing does not even come close to cab/Uber. Am I looking in the wrong places?

Charges about R110, very comfortable spacious car, and an awesome driver.
He'll tell you about all the Jewish singers he drives around.

Lol :) He is the Yeshiva's official driver, his voice is still ringing in my ears "aha, ha baishaanim..." :)

Yup, where do you think I got his info from?

Wish I knew about him before the trip, only got to use him for the ride from the hotel to the airport (stopped off in Bom Retiro to pickup some bakery goods to bring to IGU)
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
