Fastest isn't going to be the cheapest, but going to Brazilian consulate in your district (assuming it's within driving distance) will be just fine. It usually only takes 5 days there, so if you go today or tomorrow you should be fine.

NY isn;t starting that until 1/19 http://novayork.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/visas.xml
email them at visa.novayork@itamaraty.gov.br
i dont even see online that you can make appointments at all until then

You may have to use a Visa service agnecy

sorry didnt see your reply. my husband found on the website where you can make an appt. but the earliest appointment is next wednesday. is it worth me going down there to try?

Next Wed may be too close. They'd have to have it done by Friday in order for you to make it in time for your flight on the 18th.

I'm getting together all the documents and I'm going to go there tomorrow am and hope and pray that they can help me or at least tell me what my options are. Assuming they can't help me do you recommend anyone that does visas to call?

Israeli passport holders don't need a visa for Brazil, but there may be a small fee.

Yup! I thought I remembered it being USD20, but I didn't know if it'd changed. It seems like it's an actual visa that's required though, not just a fee.

and the final rule on the visa waiver for US is
Citizens of the United States, Japan, Australia and Canada will not have to get a visa to travel to Brazil for next year's Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, the government said in the official gazette on Wednesday.

The waiver will apply only for tourist visits between June 1 and Sept. 18, with visitors allowed to stay for up to 90 days.

The measure is designed to increase the number of foreigners traveling to Brazil around the Olympics, which begins on Aug. 5. A rise in tourism could give a much-needed boost to Brazil's economy, which is steeped in deep recession.

BH I went to the Brazilian consulate today and I didn't need and appointment! It takes 5 business days to get it!
