Kosher Food Options
Contact Chabad Parana for updated information regarding any Kosher food there. Otherwise plenty of snacks and fruits.

Hotels with Points
None.

Airport Transfer Options
Cab - They are metered from FLN to where you are going. We stayed in Barra Lagoa and it was R$55.
Executive Bus - Yellow buses go between major destinations to the airport and bus terminal - R$6.
Public Bus - Not from the airport. But from the bus station it's tricky but doable - R$3.

Major Activities
Water-sports and relaxing. During peak-season (Dec-Jan) there is plenty to do, such as scuba diving, gliding, boat tours and more. We were there during winter break (Jul) and the waves were great for surfing, and the dunes at Joaquina were great for sandboarding.

There are beautiful beaches all over the island of Florianopolis. During the winter the north beaches tend to be the warmest as the wind doesn't attack it directly. Center/east beaches are really nice, the best for surfing, but can get cold. Mole and Joaquina are the most popular from those. Didn't trek down south on my trip there, but the beaches are supposedly great as well, though very calm and sleepy kind of towns next to them and people going fishing there.

A small town on the west side of the island, has a boardwalk and bicycle path along the water, nice place to go for sunset. Old historic architecture there, many buildings there hundreds of years old. It's about 10-15 minutes north of downtown FLN.

Hello,

I am traveling from JFK New York to JNB Johannesburg in December 2016. The flight that I bought has a layover in GRU (Sao Paolo Brazil). The layover is for 7 hours. I am wondering if I need a VISA if my flight is originating in NY and ending in Johannesburg but it has a layover in Brazil.

My first question: Can I leave the airport for 4 hours?
My second question: if I am not allowed to leave the airport am I going to have a problem staying in the airport.

Thank you very much

you shouldn;t  need a visa as a transit passenger, and you cant leave the airport w/o a visa
You wont have a problem staying in the airport
(at least thats what ajk said.. http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=46243.0)

+1. You can only enter Brazil (clear customs & immigration) if you have a visa, but you can stay in the terminal in transit for as long as you want.

So if you're transiting through Brazil on 2 separate tickets, will the airline let you board without a visa?

Need help with our trip to Brazil.
Sao Paulo for shabbat.  Which area should we stay. Is there a particular shul that is welcoming and will invite us for shabbat meals.
Any accommodation recommendations. Also we will probably need transport to and from the airport since their is 4 of us with luggage.
Iguaza - Is there a takeout place in SP that we can use to get meals to take with us to Iguaza.  Accommodation recommendations?
Maunus - Accommodation?  Amazon trip recommendations?
Rio - Accommodation?      Anything else that you with you had known before going?  I know that language is a problem in Brazil.

As someone who just got back from a trip to Brazil, read all TR at least twice, read parts of threads and you will have it all spelled out.

I hope to put up a post with my add ons and tips, (a full TR will be repeating others)

It can be a full TR that updates and confirms previous people's experiences. If all the TR's here are older than yours, readers will be interested to know that their info is still accurate as of your trip. It need not be in length if parts are the same, but the parts that are the same should be mentioned.

The last two - specifically the last - were on my Brazil bucket list when I was there, Google the picture of that place, it's not that far from Recife too, and you also got Fernando de Noronha.

Has anyone been to any of these places? is it worth it? Ill be in Rio for  my 3rd time  in Mid may for a family wedding:

Salvador and environs
Recife/Olinda
The Colonial towns of Minas Gerais
Parque Lencois In Marahao

Any Suggestions for other places? I've been already to Iguacu and the Amazon is not that great in may?!!!.

Minas Gerais has lots of beautiful places outside of the cities.

Try here.

So the End of May would be a good time to go to Manaus to visit the Amazon?
