Kosher Food Options
Contact Chabad Parana for updated information regarding any Kosher food there. Otherwise plenty of snacks and fruits.

Hotels with Points
None.

Airport Transfer Options
Cab - They are metered from FLN to where you are going. We stayed in Barra Lagoa and it was R$55.
Executive Bus - Yellow buses go between major destinations to the airport and bus terminal - R$6.
Public Bus - Not from the airport. But from the bus station it's tricky but doable - R$3.

Major Activities
Water-sports and relaxing. During peak-season (Dec-Jan) there is plenty to do, such as scuba diving, gliding, boat tours and more. We were there during winter break (Jul) and the waves were great for surfing, and the dunes at Joaquina were great for sandboarding.

There are beautiful beaches all over the island of Florianopolis. During the winter the north beaches tend to be the warmest as the wind doesn't attack it directly. Center/east beaches are really nice, the best for surfing, but can get cold. Mole and Joaquina are the most popular from those. Didn't trek down south on my trip there, but the beaches are supposedly great as well, though very calm and sleepy kind of towns next to them and people going fishing there.

A small town on the west side of the island, has a boardwalk and bicycle path along the water, nice place to go for sunset. Old historic architecture there, many buildings there hundreds of years old. It's about 10-15 minutes north of downtown FLN.

Anything to do with 2 kids (Age 4 and 2) on a 10 hour stop in GRU, or should I look for a more direct option to my destination?

Looking for some advice.

Will be spending 4 days in Buenos Aires in early December.  Flying from NYC.  Was going to go to Iguazu for 2 days and then continue on to Rio for 3 days to get some beach-time in.  DW is a bit concerned by the Yellow Fever outbreak in Brazil and by the fact that she should heard that Rio is "dangerous". As an alternative to Rio, I was thinking of stopping in Panama on the way back up to NYC for 3 days.

1. Is Rio really more dangerous than other cities or does one just need to be vigilant, smart and avoid the "wrong" neighborhoods?

2. Where would I get a better beach vacation--Rio or Panama?

3. If I do go to Panama, is 3 days enough or should I cut out Iguazu to get a couple of additional days in Panama.

Thanks!

1. Just stay vigilant, it's fine. There's no yellow fever in southern Brazil.
2. Rio.

Now were living the good times . where my DW and i are going to Brazil and Argentina ( tx @Dan flying AA 772 in J) and not paying the 640$ it would have cost us for Visas .
It's got nothing to do with Brazillians, the US is hard on everybody.
Anyway there are significantly more Brazillians wanting to visit the US than Americans wanting to visit Brazil, so they are just shooting themselves in the foot.

Argentina has it right, charge the $160 reciprocity fee, but make it quick and simple to pay with a credit card at the entry.

Looking for some advice.
Always wanted to Visit Brazil, so looked at flights for this winter and they were around 1k$, so "settled" on Bali , but when @Dan posted flights in j for 1400$ i couldn't resist and booked .
Now got to plan quickly as trip is in a few weeks.
Going for a full 8 days.
1) how long should i spend in Rio?
2) what are my options in terms of accommodations in Iguazu falls in Argentina ( RIP Sheraton)?
3) what is best option for Shabbos RIo, Sp, or. Manaus?
Any tips will be useful

1) depends what you want to do there 3 days should be more than enough to hit the top five attractions
2) IMHO if you can, you still want to stay in the GRAN MELIÁ IGUAZÚ, The access to the park after hours  is worth it (same goes for Brazilian side- Belmond) and you should make time to see both sides
3) The Copacabana in Rio has great options for Shabbos, We were invited out for meals, just from meeting people in the restaurant. The Shul has meals as well

1. A couple days.
2. Stay at either of the hotels in the park.
3. SP has a vibrant community. Rio has several chabad houses. Manaus is sure to be something special and different, my friend is the shliach there and he's great.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Tx.
AFAIK  there is no way to book the GRAN on points, is staying in the park worth spending that much (around 700+ for 2 nights)?
Is there what to see in terms of nature in Manuas area , and would sunday suffice?
P.s Ever since watching Rio (and subsequently @Dan Hand Gliding). its been on my bucket list , if anyone has contact info. Would appreciate it
Thanks

Pardon my ignorance .
What are the top 5 attractions?
1) depends what you want to do there 3 days should be more than enough to hit the top five attractions
2) IMHO if you can, you still want to stay in the GRAN MELIÁ IGUAZÚ, The access to the park after hours  is worth it (same goes for Brazilian side- Belmond) and you should make time to see both sides
3) The Copacabana in Rio has great options for Shabbos, We were invited out for meals, just from meeting people in the restaurant. The Shul has meals as well

IMHO its worth $700+ (so book with A+, MR or UR and call it points )
Top 5 attractions? depends on what interests you
you already said Hand-gliding
Sugar Loaf
Copacabana beach (fort and museum while you're at it especially if you stay at the JW)
dont know how you feel about the Corcovado (we gave it a miss) you can go to the Botanical Garden at the bottom though
or Jeep tour in the Tijuca rain Forest
Is visitng a Favela your thing? (i think Dan would advice against, based on his experience ) otherwise Vidigal and the Dois Irmãos hike are recommended by some sites
Escadaria Selarón steps
Ipanema, Ponta do Arpoador for a sunset
