Kosher Food Options
Contact Chabad Parana for updated information regarding any Kosher food there. Otherwise plenty of snacks and fruits.

Hotels with Points
None.

Airport Transfer Options
Cab - They are metered from FLN to where you are going. We stayed in Barra Lagoa and it was R$55.
Executive Bus - Yellow buses go between major destinations to the airport and bus terminal - R$6.
Public Bus - Not from the airport. But from the bus station it's tricky but doable - R$3.

Major Activities
Water-sports and relaxing. During peak-season (Dec-Jan) there is plenty to do, such as scuba diving, gliding, boat tours and more. We were there during winter break (Jul) and the waves were great for surfing, and the dunes at Joaquina were great for sandboarding.

There are beautiful beaches all over the island of Florianopolis. During the winter the north beaches tend to be the warmest as the wind doesn't attack it directly. Center/east beaches are really nice, the best for surfing, but can get cold. Mole and Joaquina are the most popular from those. Didn't trek down south on my trip there, but the beaches are supposedly great as well, though very calm and sleepy kind of towns next to them and people going fishing there.

A small town on the west side of the island, has a boardwalk and bicycle path along the water, nice place to go for sunset. Old historic architecture there, many buildings there hundreds of years old. It's about 10-15 minutes north of downtown FLN.

Check out trip advisor they have everything in São Paulo. There are crazy shopping places like vinte cinco de marco, the Sunday fruit market is great as well. There is a free walking tour in English, supposedly very good. Sunday markets in Liberdade and in Republica are both great as well. Sunday at Ibirapuera park is a fun experience, lots of great museums nearby too.

Thanks to all for all the tips. I'm landing this Friday in SP and spending 6 nights at the Mercure Jardin hotel. Trying to score tickets to the game on Tuesday so would appreciate any local leads on that and any other must do's in SP including kosher restaurants. I know 6 nights is a long time and part of the trip is business but I definitely want to try fitting in as much as possible. Not sure if this is custom but does anyone know if I can get a driver to accompany us the whole day for the duration? Is it VERY expensive?

TIA

Good choice to switch the hotel, you are right in the center of Jardins now - the jewish community and nice part of Sao Paulo. You will even have a few local places that you can walk to for kosher restaurants and great shopping. Driver for the whole day might be expensive, Sao Paulo is not as cheap as other places in SA like BA. I would get taxis as needed, there is a great app for that called "99 taxis" - it won't charge you anything extra, and will fetch a driver anytime you need it around sao paulo and rio. And will send you an automatic receipt and tracking after.

Yeah I read up on the area and it really was not the best so I switched over. Had no idea there were kosher restaurants walking distance. Which ones? Thanks for the app Idea! It's a great help!

Cantina de Bero pizza should be pretty close, and a kosher grocery store. For shopping you will be very close to the huge paulista ave and the fancy but not affordable oscar freire. Metro will be nearby too.

They are both in the process of retrofitting they're 767s to lie flat seats. Check the seat map to see if you are flying a JJ or ex LA plane, the LAN planes should have lie flat biz.

I Don't think that you understood. When you checked seatguru did you check only JJ or also LA? Look at the seatmap on JJ and then match the seat numbers and layout with either a JJ or LA bird.

What do you consider enough? if you want to just go to the Copacabana beach and visit the mountain probably. But if you want to have a more relaxed vacation and to experience the city you will need some more time. We were there for 4 days and could have done more.

if i have a TAM flight arriving GRU at 630am, but decided im not gunnu spend time there and instead go to buenos aires, if I book a GOL flight at 815 AM, will I be able to either a) check everything all the way through from JFK to AEP without having to get bags, or b) at least have enough time to get bags and check them again on time? its a friday morning so don't wanna risk too much but do want to make this work.

if i have a TAM flight arriving GRU at 630am, but decided im not gunnu spend time there and instead go to buenos aires, if I book a GOL flight at 815 AM, will I be able to either a) check everything all the way through from JFK to AEP without having to get bags, or b) at least have enough time to get bags and check them again on time? its a friday morning so don't wanna risk too much but do want to make this work.

Wouldn't risk it. It's way too close. Immigration can take up to three hours itself. And they are different terminals. Whereas if you had a TAM flight to BA it would be possible, no immigration needed.

There is a later one too on GOL available for miles but so far the TAM ones to BA weren't available. Anyone know if those are generally tight in terms of availability or if I should hold out?

Any good way to hold a GOL flight, or book it in a way that's not too expensive to cancel?

You sure have to go though immigration? AA rep and a few flyertalk threads seem to imply the terminals are connected and no need to

Arrival in GRU can take 3 hours?
