What to do with baggage on long connections
« on: November 05, 2012, 08:02:34 AM »
I plan on booking a trip to israel with ua miles and putting in a couple close-to-24-hours connections to go touring. does anybody know what i could do with my bags during the stop? im assuming i cant have the airline hold them for any stop above 12 or so hours and these are over 20. Does anybody know of any european airports that have lockers for a couple of 50 lb suitcases? Or any other ideas so that i wont have to shlep 100lbs of baggage with me? Thanks for any input

I believe they can hold baggage up to 24 hours before a flight. Meaning as soon as you are able to check in they can hold ur bags

Most airports have a locker room where you can store your luggage albeit for a fee!
I have used such a service in Zurich, London, Madrid, and frankfurt and I remember using this service in other airports too

I was planning to leave my baggage at the luggage storage area in CDG but I found this on their website:
"Baggage Storage/Left Luggage:
For reasons of safety and security, the luggage storage services have been suspended at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport, in compliance with current anti-terrorist legislation.

However luggage can still be stored at the major train stations."

Any ideas?

if your next flight is the same day, you might be able to check in before you leave the airport. I did that in amsterdam - checked in early morning for a night flight and then left the airport

The Elal rep said I can only check in 4 hours before the flight. Is that true?

While I know this is as relatively unread thread and my question doesn't apply to a connection, I figured I'd ask it here (I couldn't find a better thread).

Does anyone know if hotels will watch/store your bags for you for the day if you're not staying at that hotel?  We'll be in LHR for the day and need a place to store our bags that's cheaper than the Left-Baggage.co.uk's price of £40 for two small carry-ons and two backpacks.
