Just got a regular and MB amex plat via a 3BM.

To maximize the chances of getting both signup bonuses, should I manage the accounts in separate online accounts or does it not matter (looks like I may have been assigned the same MR#, if that changes things)?

Any other things to consider or do to maximize the chances of getting both bonuses (note, no history of gold or plat cards)

No guarantee, but from my experience it doesn't matter if they're registered separately or not.

Oh, one other thing.

I called the Platinum CS line to see when the clock started ticking for the 3 months. The lady claimed after I made my first purchase. I'm pretty sure that's not correct, but she claimed it was.

Is the 3 month counter like Chase where it starts when the application is approved, or is it when the card is activated?

I don't think anyone know the answer to that 100%.

my friend recently opened a plat. and gold via 2BM and the MR accounts where separate, after getting the points on the plat. he called to get both accounts linked together they told him he shouldn't do it before he gets the points for the gold because if he links them now he wont be able to get the signup bonus for the gold card

The fact that the Amex rep was "looking out" for his points and mentioning points all together when the request was only indirectly affecting his points is questionable IMO.

My wife opened a new PRG card after she had closed prior MR cards (including a PRG) several weeks before, and as a result the new PRG card got a new MR account with no prior history. She still got no bonus. So my bet is the new bonus algorithm is intelligent enough to look beyond just that MR account.

Any thoughts on _when_ to hit the spend limits when trying to hit for two platinum cards? Hit them on the same day? Or separate days?

Somewhat on the same line but a little different I have 2 amex cards in the usa and one in canada right now they are on 2 different online accounts but I wanted to put them on the same account is it a problem since I claim to reide in the us on my us applications and in canada on my canadian application?

2, but I'm not sure that mattered as an inquiry about one of the plat accounts via SM produced an answer that mentioned both plat accounts. But then again, it might have. Full details when the points post (which unfortunately may not be til the end of the month)

Points are final! 100K in the MR account.

So here's what I did (and I don't profess to say that I was anything more than lucky).

3BM (mb plat, reg amex plat, and Blue Cash Preferred). All got approved without needing to call in (took a few hours for some though). First amex plats for me.

Added MB plat to an existing Amex account and created new account for reg amex plat. Noticed MR#s were the same though.
Next, I hit both spending limits on the same day.

Then I waited. Got antsy after still seeing nothing in the Amex account page and SMed them about moving up my statement date. While learning that any change in statement date would actually push the closing date to the following month, I also learned that they could see both my accounts with that one SM. I also learned that I had 100K points pending in my MR account.

Now the points have arrived in my Amex account page and finalized in MR. I'm not sure when they arrived...as my closing dates haven't arrived yet, so perhaps it's just a 7-10 business day wait (spend threshold met around the turn of the month)

You don't have any control over if they assign you a new MR #. Luck of the draw AFAIK.
