With the money I'd be saving, I could buy a lifetime's worth of sunscreen AND a portable nuclear-powered A/C and still come out wayyy ahead.

Am I the only one that would rather have a pleasant summer and unpleasant winter over a pleasant winter and unpleasant summer?

I mean I can bundle up pretty good in the winter and be just fine, but ain't nobody wanna see me walking around half naked.

Now you east coast folk, you get hosed in both seasons and pay $$$$ for it.

Your definitely not the only one as I have heard that argument before. But I, for one, still prefer a hot summer over a cold winter.

Those 9 hour grey cold days just give me the creeps...

And 100 degree weather dripping with humidity doesn't?
Is there a better smell than walking by a house in the winter with a wood burning fireplace going?

Maybe. From NYC it's a no-brainer as summer stinks and when snow comes the city shuts down.

Too hot/humid is much better than too cold/snowy.

Hyperbole. Most days are pleasant, some days are overly hot/humid.
Snow shut down the city once in December 2010. Other than that, snow is part of life in the winter but it sure does not shut the city down.

Disclaimer: I lived in NYC for 12 years, but I have been living elsewhere for the past 14 years. I have no bias toward defending NYC weather for the heck of it.  :D

Lot's of people have wood burning fireplace in LA, too. ;D As soon as winter starts people start up their fireplaces. It combines your almost heavenly favorite part of winter with warm weather; you couldn't ask for more (strictly from a weather perspective)!

+ You don't even get to enjoy the snowy atmosphere, as it pretty much becomes one big grey slushy chulent after an hour or so on the ground.  :(

-1.  The only thing I can't stand is humidity. I'd take cold/snow over humid. Heat is not that bad if it doesn't come with humidity.

Agreed.
LA would be great, I just can't justify the cost. And the traffic.
Like I said, if only HI had a community.

Not the same if it's not cold. Just like Uggs aren't the same if it's not cold.

Cold is relative. I'm shivering as soon as it's below 50.

NY is really only unbearable for a week or two in the winter and a few weeks in the summer. Most of the summer is uncomfortable but not too terrible, not nearly as bad as FL. And what NY'ers call unbearable cold would probably be just an average day for CLE...

I'm not saying the weather is great here, I would probably call it "consistently mediocre," it's usually not that great but it rarely gets really bad either.
