Been looking lately into Staten Island.
I know that's a community that never took off, but lately a lot of chasidim have been moving in.
Very intrigued to see if the litvish-yeshivish community will do the same.
ask away if u have any questions or want to visit. was raised in SI, lived in KGH (another transient) with the Mrs for a few then moved back to Willowbrook once we could buy a house (with our mortgage/taxes/insurance on a nice semi less than rent...).
Unfortunately, since the recent influx (dont get me wrong, loving the new chassidim), willowbrook prices have gone up pretty severely (15-20%), there is a small supply of houses in the main neighborhood, and not enough have moved into the outer areas to expand it (the eruv goes much further than the nuclear 10 block main area encircling the Young Israel and R Pollack's shul). so the value proposition is not what it was 5 years ago.
as to your question, there is definitely a nice sized core litvish-yeshivish community (i was once identifiable as part of that
mainly based on the Willowbrook Kollel at R Pollack, plus a nice number of people connected to the Chofetz Chaim high school.
