Cheaper houses in FR look weird and are on the border. Anything nice there you're paying similar prices to Brooklyn...

I guess you mean that they are on the border of NYC and Nassau?
Why does that make a difference?

Lol, that's not what he meant. Closer to Nassau is generally more expensive. He probably meant the border of the 'ghetto' areas.

right across from redfern housing is a very nice area ? ?
I was curious about this so I checked it up. Redfern is literally on the other side of the tracks. Are there any Jew north of the LIRR?

You're joking right? Yeshiva Ketana and the Inwood community are not 'right across'  from Redfern, nor are they in Far Rockaway. I'm asking about your Redfern comment, implying that there are Jews living near Redfern. In KGH, I live closer to Pomonk than Yeshiva Ketana is to Redfern. And the bulk of the Jewish houses in Inwood are much farther north.

You asked a very general questing, do any jews live north of the track ? Ans thats what I answered. How was I supposed to know you meant within a block away in redfern?  And btw The inwood community is closer to the inwood station than most of the Far Rockaway Jewish community.

Yeshiva Ketana to Redfern
Main and Jewel to Pomonok

Sure I am. I'm not ranking NYCHA projects here. Of course Redfern is worse than Pomonok, but neither is a nice place to live. Either way, my point is that Redfern is a non-issue given where Jews actually live right now.

Lol, reread the flow of the thread and I'm finally following. Bottom line, there are Jews that take the A from Mott or the LIRR from the Far Rockaway station, but if someone isn't comfortable with those options they can always use the Inwood LIRR station. Most people aren't walking distance from any of those options anyway.

I don't think anyone from Inwood walks to the Far Rockaway LIRR station.

ok we can all agree that Redfern does not house many jews.

Im pretty sure  most people use the inwood station even those from far rockaway. But its not much farther from redfern. And its hardly a "Nice area," (except for seasons express).

Living half a mile from one of the relatively best projects- pomonok (and never having to pass it for virtually anything) is incomparable to living half a mile from one of the worst projects with a horrible crime rate that has spilled over to the Jewish areas (and you have to pass it all the time)

I actually lived next door to Pomonok for a few years, and walked along the edge just about every day. I actually think it's just the opposite - a KGH resident is much more likely to need to walk or drive past Pomonok than a FR resident is with Redfern.

Not really sure what you're source is about best and worst projects. If you look at the actual crime stats from the NYPD, Pomonok itself is worse than Redfern, both this year and last.
http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/downloads/pdf/crime_statistics/hb_eagle_report.pdf

Now, the 101st is generally worse than the 107th, but you can't just say that's because Redfern is worse than Pomonok. The precincts cover pretty large areas.

This could probably be posted in a number of threads, but I figured this one was pretty relevant.
