So you come out paying 5k per kid whether you live in Brooklyn or Cleveland.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Only if you're making ~$200K+

Huh? I was assuming 15k -5k voucher -5k scholarship, or 10k -5k scholarship. What's your math? Btw doesn't Norfolk have free tuition?

HAC is on average $10K-5k voucher-5k scholarship=$0.
Though I don't know firsthand if the voucher is decreasing the scholarship size.

My kids are still in nursery ($4K full tuition before vouchers/scholarships)

Main difference is cost of living though. A mortgage in UH is under $1K/month.

Said another way, in CLE to put one kid in school costs as much as a mortgage before counting vouchers and scholarships. In NY, you can put 5 kids in school for less than your mortgage without any assistance at all.

Naarishkeit.

Simple math. Cle mortgage is undr 1k, so I'll call that 10k-12k a year. About the same as tuition there before you ask for breaks.

In NY 5 kids in school could run as low as 25k, which is less than a mortgage on any house big enough to hold 5 kids.

When you say NY, you should say Brooklyn. In 5t, my kids tuition 12-14k a piece. I'm talking about the regular, mainstream schools.

Yup. Brooklyn or Lakewood, not all of NY or NJ.

A voucher isn't a break. It's cash given from the state to everyone who lives in CH+UH, regardless of income level. And it brings the cost of full tuition (before actual breaks) to less than $5K.

So try that math again por favor ::)

I'm just saying that a citywide voucher isn't a break or assistance, it's the ability to use your tax dollars are you see fit.
Not sure why you're calling it a break/assistance?

You will have a house for 50-65 years. Day school tuition may be for a 25 year span of your life.

Typical mortgage is 30 years. And you build equity paying a mortgage while I'm not sure what you build with tuition.

Why would they offer the same scholarship amount after the vouchers as before? If the idea is that the parents should pay the portion of tuition cost that they can reasonably afford, then the voucher shouldn't change that.

Really depends how the school wants to play it out.

They can say we will get what we always get and now even more families with move to UH/CH because of the vouchers or they can decide the city gave them a nice bonus.

Someone has to fundraise the scholarship money, no? When the purpose is to allow people to afford tuition, it's probably a lot more of a bearable and rewarding task than when it's to allow people who can afford $5k to pay $0.
