Of course I do.

Trick is to conform to the Israeli system instead of fighting it at home.
What experience are you speaking from?

You evidently don't live in Israel so not sure what you mean. Had I not known better I would think your the resident Rav in the BMG coffee room.

OOT: less choices (which makes people less judgmental).
+180 excellent point, when you dont have enough people for an independent echo-chamber/clique, its a somewhat hidden plus that really can add to quality of life and growth as a human being.

After reading a couple of pages on this thread, the pluses and minuses of OOT and IT start to become super clear.

Cleveland and Brooklyn are the prototype OOT and IT communities on DD.

Which community/communities most closely combine the pluses of both OOT & IT?

(I know... nothing truly does, which is why I state MOST closely combine....)

Baltimore used to be very OOT, but in recent years has had a large influx of IT-types and now even has a few shuls/communities of those types.  Driveable to NY, plenty of jobs, especially in gov't.  Not enough schools though.

I dont have an answer for you but just BTW, I'd say that Lakewood is the prototype in town place for the non-chassidic world these days. - Brooklyn is for old timers. - Maybe a few young couples, very non-Lakewood type... Everyone else seems to be in Lakewood.

I am talking about as presented on this forum, which would be Brooklyn. Choose whichever community you like as your prototype, churn.

I am glad that you feel that way though. Maybe the other posters are from the "non-Lakewood type" variety. I am guessing that you are from the "Lakewood type"  variety. But that is neither here nor there.

And by the way, the hock these days are that chassidim are infiltrating Lakewood at breakneck speed. So maybe throw in the chassidic world as well, although granted the "hard core" chassidim probably are not running to Lakewood.

I'm guessing that Baltimore and Toronto might be examples of cities that are OOT but with some IT pluses.

But Brooklyn is turning slowly into an oot community for some. - Not financially of course. But it is emptying out.

Schools are not shrinking/closing?

Cmiiw, but half of Lakewood are children of Brooklyn families. - it is definitely not the other way around.
